Freelancer Crashing To Desktop - Sath - 02-17-2014

Well,I should have posted in the mentioned thread for this but as far as I think,it is not related to antivirus I guess.

Everything was fine till today early morning 2 am(GMT +5:30).I quit the game and copied a part of the ingame conversation from DsAce.dll to start a communication in the forums. After that, when I started the game,I couldnt get into the server. The game crashed at the next instant I select a character and start the game.I had no problems with my firewall or my antivirus(McAfee).

Previously I had opened the DsAce.dll many times and copied parts of in game RP.Anyway,I tried reinstalling FL from scratch.Nothing helped. Then I deleted the DsAce.dll file seperately, reinstalled FL again.I turned off all my firewalls, and all the antivirus functions, though I didnt get any response. The situation remains the same.

I hope I can get help from anybody. Thanks in advance.

P.S:This problem happens with all the servers.

try this

download and instrall free trial of revo uninstaller

and uninstall using that, after an install revo scans for any registry files and other folder linked to uninstalled applications

(its very good, i used it uninstall battlefield 3 and reinstall, and people know how picky battlefield 3 and 4 are to get working!!)

then go into you appdata (by clicking run and type %appdata%)

go into the Local folder and search for discovery freelancer 4.87.0 folder if its there just delete entire folder

i take it your using launchpad or similar so you accounts are safe?

no use revo to uninstall the vanilla freelancer (in microsoft game), and let it scan

again, go into your default install drive (usually cSmile goto program files, find microsoft games go in there, and delete freelancer, i would say just delete the microsoft game folder itself , but you might have other game by MS

reboot comp

re install freelancer then 4.87

hopefully that should work

if not then something else is stopping FL from running

Thanks for the help,I am trying out on that one.Nothing seemed to help.If not,I would have to do a manual system restore, which I somehow forgot how to.

Also,I dont know if there is a system restore point created,as my lappy is just 4 months old.

RE: Freelancer Crashing To Desktop - Sath - 02-18-2014

It didnt workout, though I cleaned the FLSpew,DsAce,and everything related to FL.Reinstalled from scratch again,it started off like it does when FL opens for the first time, with the warning, license stuff. But still the problem persists.

I can play Open SP though.

RE: Freelancer Crashing To Desktop - evanz - 02-18-2014

that is damn strange

what errors come up, or does it just crash without anything?

in your mcafee, is all the freelancer folder in the "allowed" list?

RE: Freelancer Crashing To Desktop - Sath - 02-18-2014

No error comes up.Just crashes.

I have literally turned off all my antivirus activities and firewall activities though.Deadline.

EDIT:For the namesake, added every folder realted to FL in the exception list.No results. Thanks for your interest Evanz.

RE: Freelancer Crashing To Desktop - evanz - 02-18-2014

i try to help where i can

system restore doesnt really do much, but i suppose you can try it

you should have restore points made, if its turned on

also although you got mcafee have you done scans for spyware/maleware using dedicated scanning software

i use spybot search and destroy, and maleware bytes - maleware remover

im just trying to think what could be causing it

any driver updates done? could of been an update at the same time as you tried to log?

mmmm so you can play single player and no crash to desktop, vanilla freelancer

and when trying disco your using the correct exe in the 4.87 folder in your appdata/local?

RE: Freelancer Crashing To Desktop - Bulldog. - 02-18-2014

This is a old trick but try this.Go to MyGames/Freelancer/acct/singleplayer and delete everything there.Today same problem started with me and reinstalled and did all the funy tricks none helped but this fixed it so try it.Seems you should backup the files and move them around as you play MP and SP.

RE: Freelancer Crashing To Desktop - Sath - 02-18-2014

Thanks for the help though.I have taken a more wiser decision,I fear. Smile

RE: Freelancer Crashing To Desktop - Sath - 02-19-2014

I think I found out some clue regarding this.I removed the DsAce.dll files from the quarantine and replace them to where they were.Set exception to all folders regarding FL.Restored the 2 instances of DsAce.dll.Also,there were some files which were tagged as a virus under the same name.they seem to be quarantined on the day and on the time FL stopped working for me.

I was excited, but still the game doesnt work.I guess I might need a clean uninstall and then reinstall with again setting exceptions to those folders. Can I go ahead?
