l'Ane and Gallic Junkers - Thexare - 04-01-2014

This is sort of an extension of my other Gallic topic, something I discovered poking around at IDs.

Gallic Junkers have a special allowance for the l'Ane. It is, as far as I can tell, produced by the Gallic Brigands, who are allied with the Corse and Maquis - both factions that are at best very unfriendly to the Gallic Junkers. I would try to reference Gallic Brigand diplomacy, but that's a little difficult given that there's so little material on the forums for them.

How then, in-RP, do they acquire this transport?

RE: l'Ane and Gallic Junkers - Pancakes - 04-01-2014

GJ actually fence for Brigands. Maquis hate them, true, but Maquis aren't producing the ships. The GJ-UC relations are tricky, UC don't like them too much since they pose a tiny bit of competition in the "fencing" area, but Gallic Brigands have no issues with them what-so-ever.

I assume that the GJ could, well, just ask Brigands to sell them some. While GJ are quite crown aligned, they still do underworld dealings every once in a while, and smuggle, and what's the best if not to smuggle in a smuggler ship? Brigands wouldn't have that much of a reason not to sell them l'Anes, since they:
A) Get paid for the ship
B) Have the ship later used to buy things from them, or shipped to them. So, "whatever".

Thanks for the clarification. Gallia being as dead as it is makes some of that information a bit tricky to track down.

Of course, given that there are no Brigands, I guess I'll just take one for free, if this character goes that route...

Enjoy, but remember that due to past occurrences GJ are treated as hostile outside of Gallia by most factions.

Expected in Bretonia. What's their status in Kusari and Rheinland? I had an idea I wanted to roll with...

Kusari doesn't fancy them too much. Tolerate since they are considered lawful by the king, but for every small slip you'd get slapped real hard.

Rheinland, I think it kind of depends on the player, since Rheinland used to suffer from a flux of GJ ships that pirated them there.

Rheinland suffered from an influct of EVERYONE shooting/pirating them. Like I can't recall a single faction/group/etc outside of Rheinland to have sided with them ever.

EDIT: Besides traders, ofc.

Also on topic - shady deals is what keeps Gallia's unlawfuls spinning. They all to some extent rely on one another. So when a Junker fences some goods he expects a favor in return, I guess.

Hm. I can work with this, yes.

Thanks for the help.

RE: l'Ane and Gallic Junkers - Highland Laddie - 04-01-2014

The problem is that, functionally speaking, Gallic Junkers and Union Corse are pretty much identical, even though their lore is not. I find them a bit redundant in that regard.

RE: l'Ane and Gallic Junkers - Pancakes - 04-01-2014

GJ and UC aren't identical at all. Not even functionally. The only similarity is that they are both quasi-lawfuls. Though the GJ is far more crown aligned.
