People afraid of the blue - Pancakes - 04-06-2014 I more often than not see people running from a fight and... docking. What's the reasoning for that? I mean, in both cases you are dead the same way per the rules, only in one you show a green message instead of a blue one. Mind that I am not talking about hugging bases, that's a whole different thing (not one that I agree with, but alright) So, why are people so scared of "dying" in a computer game? Discuss. EDIT: I am not talking here about traders who obviously want to save their cargo from being lost. WARNNING: DON'T TURN THIS INTO A TRAIL BY FORUM OR I WILL DESTROY YOU. Seriously, I really wonder about it. RE: People afraid of the blue - sindroms - 04-06-2014 Are you upset at someone? EDIT: Why would you give your enemy the satisfaction of a blue kill, so they can yell around in TS at their accomplishment? Just dock and listen to them rage for 3 minutes just because they couldn't get the kill, calling your character a Nword without them realizing you are in the same TS channel. RE: People afraid of the blue - Luke. - 04-06-2014 InRP, people don't wanna die. Then again, InRP...pods are saved every single time so yeah, I don't understand either. I fight, kill or die like a man because you don't get better by running away from your opponent. This could quite easily turn into trial by forum though, someone's bound to spout some names. I for one don't care. Sure, I like to win, but I don't see the difference between the two, and wondered for their reason. RE: People afraid of the blue - SnakThree - 04-06-2014 Are you looking for RP reasoning or ooRP? In part (especially with caps and Super-heavies and the like) its the difference between losing two or three million credits in gear - Missiles, torps, mines and other consumables. And for a trader, it is the opportunity to avoid losing a cargo, and the ability to start the run again as soon as the time elapses. Or at least thats my interpretation. Personally, I take my lumps like a man. RE: People afraid of the blue - Pancakes - 04-06-2014 (04-06-2014, 10:19 AM)Snak3 Wrote: Are you looking for RP reasoning or ooRP?Both. Not sure if they are on par with dying though. RE: People afraid of the blue - tothebonezone - 04-06-2014 Because they like seeing you rage about it on the forums. I actually prefer if someone speeddocks away from me, they have to deal with the repair bill/lost guns. RP - you are not losing your assets and thus are saving relevant sums of money. ooRP - Docking is a partial win on its own, because you know that your opponent failed to gun you down while you managed to survive. Bounty hunting takes a lot of time, and if you can't do the claim, well, less time wasted? |
