There are many possible reasons. It was Core 1 thus no RP needed. It was dismantled by owners. It was deleted by admins. Who knows.

It was Core 3.
Last time I saw it had ~38 bil + some expensive stuff and a module under construction.
I saw the destruction message shortly after the server restart. No one was present in the system after that.

If you're that worried about bases dying willy-nilly, Hone, then you should uninstall Discovery.
