Opinions on this rather, big skirmish - Fletcher - 08-24-2008 This isn't a trial by forum. Just wanted to tell a little story. I was flying around Omicron Delta in my bomber, then I hear that there was a 'speedmodder' in the system, the BHG Battlecruiser was spouting reports being sent. So I decided to look into it and shouted a truce oo'rp. Upon getting closer, it was only a Corsair camera ship, I saw no problems, I heard they're very nimble ships. Soon after the BHG ship fired on me, itching for a fight then, I opened up my Supernovas on the ship. This resulted in a long and evasive fight on my part, I managed to cut into his hull and before I could do critical damage, he managed to maneuver to Freeport 11 under engine kill. He spouted "Freeport no kill zone stop firing" I just shouted "Fights carrying into the No kill zone doesn't stipulate a ceasefire coward!" The battle raged on with a camera ship in tow. Refilling me with bots and bats, (that helped a lot thanks man). After a few more minutes a Corsair bomber showed up, doubling the offensive power against the BHG Battlecruiser. Then something rather, large happened. Just before me and the Corsair dealt the final blow, 3 more BHG Battlecruisers and a Gunship just un docked from the Freeport, bearing in mind the combat was taking place very close to it. This redulted in a lot of missiles and Solaris' being flung. We managed to destroy the Battlecruiser, but me and the Corsair were just overwhelmed by the sheer firepower of the BHG mini fleet. Victory to the BHG. This was one of the biggest fights I've ever taken part in, and now I know why the BHG Gunship is so darned hard to hit, I better practice my bomber maneuvers... This was a hell of a fight, I may have lost, but I loved it! Props to all, even though we were stomped by a mini fleet. Kinda burns there, but what ya going to do? Do you think this fight was justified around FP 11? I talked to a few, some say yes and no. Ah well. Joy to mini fleets!:yahoo: Opinions on this rather, big skirmish - MrCynical - 08-24-2008 My understanding is that the Zoners prefer combat to be kept outside a 10k radius of a Freeport. In this situation I think they would be angry at the Bounty Hunter, not you, for violating this radius. Opinions on this rather, big skirmish - MB52 - 08-24-2008 Lets just say that to everyone involved they are lucky no zoners were around to see that, or you all might have found yourselves with lifetime bans from freeports. But I think the Zoners would have a go at all involved, even though in my opinion, my attacks are justified. ' Wrote:Lets just say that to everyone involved they are lucky no zoners were around to see that, or you all might have found yourselves with lifetime bans from freeports.I'd hate to get on the wrong end of a gun with the Zoners, they may be the neutral faction to end them all, but they have some very hard punching equipment, and a large ship list to choose from. Opinions on this rather, big skirmish - Tenacity - 08-24-2008 Ah, bounty hunter battlecruisers, the new zerg swarm. Opinions on this rather, big skirmish - Cosmos - 08-26-2008 zonerz wouldnt do anything on the corsairs part, they're too scared of them, but the BH would get a seveer kick in the but, Opinions on this rather, big skirmish - Fletcher - 08-26-2008 ' Wrote:zonerz wouldnt do anything on the corsairs part, they're too scared of them, but the BH would get a seveer kick in the but,Well Zoners wouldn't want to scare off or annoy one of their best customers, but I doubt they'd take extreme action against the BHG pilots involved, probably a slap on the wrist, I can see that happening to me as well. I wouldn't be surprised. Fun fight or not, it was kind of odd that a Battle cruiser was afraid of me in one bomber so much he'd hide in the neutral zone. Doesn't he know that the recharge rate of the SN and shield is near enough the same... I have about 1-2 seconds before I can fire another shot before his shields come back up. Very annoying. His Solaris guns were a major pain, loved the *pew pew* noise though. Opinions on this rather, big skirmish - sovereign - 08-26-2008 The Zoner perception is actually a good bit more complicated. Zoners don't like the Bounty Hunters because the BHG annoy the Corsairs, who in turn rely on the Zoners for food but don't like having to lean on them and also don't like the Zoners because Freeports serve as BHG staging areas- the BHG don't like the Zoners for cavorting with the Order and supplying the Corsairs, but play nice in return for using the Freeports. The Zoners get annoyed by both parties since the 'sairs want to destroy any Freeport that shelters BHG, but the Zoners don't like the BHG for that reason, and the BHG get miffed about the Order fighting them with stuff bought/given from the Zoners. It's about as complicated as Kusari politics. Possibly more so, although it's a lot less subtle. Just weird. As for Freeports and weaponry, if I recall correctly the ruling by the Zoner council is against capital ship weapons being fired within 2k of a Freeport (or some other similar distance). It may extend to supernovas, although the nature of antimatter projectiles makes them very easy to neutralize with point-defense weapons that the Freeports no doubt possess, while it is a lot harder to do things against heavy energy weapons. If I recall correctly, it is not a 'no-firing' zone by any means, just a 'don't fire cap weapons here, we don't want to risk the station'. The Zoner couldn't care less if you shot up BHG. They might even silently egg you on so that the BHG has to pay repair costs through them since Zoner bases are the only bases they can use unless they somehow pay someone to take everything all the way back to Omega-15... and in that case they'd probably be paying the Zoners. Win-win situation there. Note- I don't know offhand if this extends to fighting off Nomad warships- while it's a bit silly to risk the station to keep a few fighters from scratching the paint, the Harbinger almost blew up Freeport 11 on previous occasion- better risk the station than just lose it, right? RE: Opinions on this rather, big skirmish - Aazalot - 05-19-2014 The way it works is that all involved and those who use Zoner Freeports adhere to the rules whoever you are. However generally the NFZ rule has rules of its own, especially for freeports who are part of the Confederation of Freeports. It breaks down like this: The is a No Fire Zone around Freeports (generally around 10k) Most Freeport Administrators have made it clear that Battleships are not allowed to linger in the NFZ. So the fact the BHG Ship went into the NFZ to use it as a sheild is to be frowned upon which leads onto the next point The NFZ is not there to be used to escape from conflict from others. Those who chase someone into the NFZ and continues to fire are in breach of the rule as much as the person using it as a shield. The fact is that the battle shouldnt of continued around the Freeport, you should of disengaged taken screenshots and reported it to the Zoners. This way it will lead to fines or even banning from freeports for that person. Im also pretty sure that a camara ship shouldnt be getting involved with combat like this one did, but thats an issue for another place.
