Docking rings - Omicron - 07-22-2014

TL;DR, who thought it is good idea to add instantkilling non-dodgeable missilles to docking rings, effectively creating Isis syndrome all over again? Even Crete has it, for some reason. I dont know when those were added but I guess my decision to avoid house systems when possible was best decision I ever made.

Copy-paste Tabris' post.

General Discussion has spoken.

RE: Docking rings - Highland Laddie - 07-22-2014

Would it be to prevent unlawfuls from hanging out in orbit waiting to gank lawfuls? Why specifically does this trouble you, and what is Isis Syndrome for reference?

RE: Docking rings - Omicron - 07-22-2014

Isis or more commonly known as Hand of God was The Order's dockable Osiris battleship that in 4.85 and earlier was stationed next to Toledo, Order homeworld. It was mostly a huge pain in the ass to Core and at times to LNS. Such kind firepower was removed in 4.86 but now, I feel like we play doublestandards here.

RE: Docking rings - Apollon - 07-22-2014

After giving it a try in SP, I found out that each missile has about 40k damage and the speed and agility of a fighter, so you have no where to run from getting your snub from getting insta killed.

So.. stuff should be fixed

Edit: Omicron's post ^

RE: Docking rings - Zayne Carrick - 07-22-2014

Aye, I was killed several times by New Berlin and Crete docking rings. They're even worse than stationary battleships.

But I guess players want to have safe haven somewhere and they will cry loud, if such havens will be removed.

RE: Docking rings - Highland Laddie - 07-23-2014

Well, I guess if it's that powerful, I'm sure such a weapon could have a bit of damage nerf, but I'd say keep it there.

Planets should be bastions of defense.

RE: Docking rings - Echo 7-7 - 07-23-2014

It most likely came about from complaints that planets weren't as safe as they should be. That said, I don't recall exactly when it was implemented, but it was probably for 4.87.0.
