How to read CPU temperature in Windows? (Intel Celeron 1.7) - Thunderer - 08-04-2014
I have an Intel Celeron 1.7 MHz processor, and its fan is, after 10 or more years, starting to fail. It sometimes happens that it overheats to above 100°C and then shuts down automatically. I checked the temperature in BIOS after restarting. The fan sometimes just stops, but it starts working again if I give it a slight push with my finger. I don't intend to buy a new one since I'm planning to buy a new computer in some 3-4 months. Well, at least not while this one is usable enough.
I would like to be able to read CPU temperature from Windows.
I tried Open Hardware Monitor and Core Temp, but none of them seem to support Intel Celeron, as both are showing the temperature as 0. Does anyone know a program that supports Celeron?

Oh, 1,MHz...I didn't know they played Freelancer in 1950s. It's for us all to find a newer game then. Like tetris. Or something.

my word 10 years for a fan!, thats damn good
defo replace the fan, clean out any dust (get a compressed air can, but remember to turn power off 1st, unplug power cable) and blow it all out, do same to gfx card and around HD's
i use MSI afterburner, it monitors my fans on mb.gfx card, but that might not work for you if you MB doesn't send information to it, some old boards cant do it

I don't want to buy a new one because my dad is unemployed for over a year. Well, he is technically employed now, but he'll start working and getting paid in November (at least what they told him). I'll buy a whole new computer then.
It works if I open the tower case side and give it a slight push with my finger though, so I'll be using my PC with an open case side until November. I vacuum cleaned it some 3 days ago, when it failed for the first time.

I use HWMonitor. It's available as ZIP and you just extract it and run it or as an installation setup where you install it.

NEVER VACUUM CLEAN!!, that can cause static that fries components, thats why i said compressed air can, in short bursts
if you have to push the fan to get it started then it will in time totally fail, imagine if your away from you comp and it stops, POP, dead cpu, then nothing to use
fans only cost a couple of pounds (in uk anyway) its not worth the risk is it, better to get a fan, talk it to a comp shop and ask them
