Big Change to QCRF : To become BAF - Dieter Schprokets - 09-07-2008

I have been asked to take over Server BAF Faction, since Unselie is inactive, and MarvinCZ does not want the role (He's been doing it since Unselie got less active over last few weeks), and no-one else is active enough. I have accepted.

This thread is a starting point for discussion. Nothing is written in stone. Obviously a lot of details to work out.

Also if you want to join this "new" faction, post here.

Basic points of faction change:

1) General Principle to RP the faction changes.

Parliament reasserts its authority over the Armed Forces. The Ministry of Defense (MOD) now runs the BAF.

My Character is a new Grand Admiral, tasked with overseeing the integration of the BAF. He is loyal to Parliament, and the MOD, but he is no Republican. He still respects and honours the Monarchy.

Or maybe I also start an actual in-game Minister of Defense? Dunno. He likely wouldn't spend much time on a ship.. Royal Liner maybe?

This way of doing things may allow us to absorb the FED guys too (the parliamentarians, Trevelyan's boys.) I'd like Trevelyan's and Kuraine's comments on this idea.

If that is the way we go, I'd like Trevelyan to use his Bretonian Politics thread to explain the politics behind the above. Its a good thread, and it leads this way anyway.

Faction is renamed the Bretonian Armed Forces.

2) Names:

All BAF Tagged/ID'd

old QCR = [BAF]Name

old QCO (Sort of, see below) = [BAF]Name-{Guard} (Note : Not Guard Tagged. Just BAF)

old QCP = [BAF]Name-{Pvtr}

Above is suggested. I'd insist on BAF, but the subtitles? dunno. Open to ideas.

One problem is that Bretonian Indies use [BAF]. We either get them to change, join us, or we use something else, like BAF~, or another alternative.

Actually, I think the Guard (Like the British Guard Regiments, personal regiments of the Crown) should be very good PVP'rs. Elite. Anyone who is really good in a Templar should actually be required to start up a Guard Character.

Another alternative is that the Guards do not exist. Unselie doesn't want to run even that, so the Pendragon could just get a name change, become plain old BAF, our flagship.

Common Account Characters (Armoury etc) will need a rename to [BAF] (Easy to do now)

3) ZOI, relationships, ranks all remain the same. QCRF rank is transferrable.

4) Key Players :

Bluntpencil, the Privateer's are yours again, if you want them.

Unselie does not want the Guards, so MarvinCZ can have em if he wants em, unless a senior player in QCO insists.

Need to hear from Stratus, Stoat, Cawdor, Photuin, Athenian, Lancerzero, Monk, any other senior guys as to interest in the faction.

So discuss, ladies and gents. Need input.

Well, either I join the mandalores or come back to the privateers, your choice. but i cant handle both.

On a side-note, I'd not go with suffixes as they take to much space, forcing our names into shortness.

You definitely need that defense minister as forum-char. dun care what you do with your admiral though.

Actually, your choice. Both factions need members. I'm in a conflict of interest, as I'd want you in BAF and MM. :)

You are likely right about the suffix's. Maybe [BAF], [BAF-G], [BAF-P]?

If we are getting a Privateer ID, that would solve problem. Then maybe:

All names are [BAF], but Privateers carry Privateer ID, and Guards have guard tag.

What I really need to know from people is:

Should Guards and Privateers exist? (ie, no sub-groups)

And since many indies use [BAF], then should we use [BAF], or something else?

All very good ideas, i can only wish you luck.

If you'd like my opinion, the guard shouldn't exist, but the privateers are still a good idea.

I think the FEDs have a little more than just a Queen Controlled Military, so I'd wait for Trevelyan before doing anything on that note.

EDIT: I'd go with something other than [BAF]. Everyone uses brackets...

I do want people's opinions, thanks.

And yes, very interested in Trevelyan's take on this.

I hope our contracts with the QCRF will stay valid with the BAF as new contractors?

And yes, the guard thing is a little too much I think.
