Called oorp one time to many times - jpo - 09-08-2008 Today marked the offical point where I had more sanction threats than hits on my character biography. Thats all I can stand from the rules lawyers, they will take the enjoyment from this game from me no longer. I have deleted all of my rp posts and deleted my character names. I will rename each character as I see fit and play them 100% rp in game only. There is no use in posting it in the forums as it has no effect in game whatsoever. I will only give one example and name no names. I was piloting my Unioners cruiser in front of new berlin fighting RP, RM, and all traders. Every single ship was red to me. an outcast in a dragon gunboat (oorp from hell) had just killed the single RM logged on and so I had four hours to do what my faction does unhindered. Along comes a player out of the tradelane with a BH IFF tag. Completely red ship in a sea of red. BH IFF in the middle of a firefight. I did what my character would have done. I openfired and he ran. He had the heuvos to tell me I was oorp in public chat and then pm me. Then he told me i was oorp for being friendly to RM (which is 100% false) and I needed to fix it or he would turn me in for sanctions. When I shoot at someone 'id before iff' but when I get shot at 'your iff is hostile'. I have broken the rules once that I know of. It was a dogfight where we both used our cruise engines. I realize now I should have just let him go. Of course I was threatened with a sanction for that. But every single time I log on I am threatened with a sanction for some reason or another. I would say every time I get a pvp kill I get the same, but today someone lost and walked away with no hard feelings. Kudos. Other than that, everything I do someone objects to and claims I need to read the rules. I would say that I get about a 5:1 OOC:RP ratio on average. There is no need for this. I will simply ignore anyone that speaks to me ooc from now on. period. I sincerely apologize to anyone I may have broken a rule on inadvertantly when I first started. Let me remind everyone that plays here that you MUST try to rectify any situation before filiing sanctions. I will never submit one. I have come to the conclusion that I am going to be threatened by players no matter what I do, and therefore I should follow the path that allows for the most fun. From what I have seen I have nothing to worry about as I don't cheat, I'm not ignorant to people, and I dont break the faction rules. However there are far too few roleplayers proportionally to rules lawyers and cap ship whores. Untill that changes (probably wont) I would rather spend my time flying than posting. Called oorp one time to many times - Monk - 09-08-2008 yeah...rule lawyering can be a bit much...tho it kinda comes with having so many rules and people who falsely hide behind them...believe me many of us have had our fair share of that kinda bully...don't let it get to ya and just have FUN:) Called oorp one time to many times - chovynz - 09-08-2008 Thumbs up! Good luck. I'm glad you're not leaving. The way to break the ooc and rule lawyering is to play harder with roleplay. Ignore the rest. It's just chaff. Look for the gold. Good hunting / Safe trading / Speedy flying. See you ingame. Called oorp one time to many times - kingvaillant - 09-08-2008 laugh at their pathetic-ness like I do! Called oorp one time to many times - Titan - 09-08-2008 When someone says you're ooRP, do what I do, laugh at them, and then take your cruiser/BS out, and kill them, all of them. Called oorp one time to many times - jpo - 09-08-2008 Thanks for the positive replies, it makes a difference. by the way youre all OORP for replying to this thread. hehe joking of course :yahoo: Called oorp one time to many times - chovynz - 09-08-2008 Comm *static* Hyung: "Ariel, did you just hear something?" Ariel: "meep. No master. meep" Hyung: "hmmmm" Called oorp one time to many times - Lupusy - 09-08-2008 frankly there's way too much rules on this server just keep it simple. all bounties need to be auto-scripted :- pirates: allowed to kill police and traders. gets bounties for these. police: allowed to kill pirates & police. gets bounties for these. traders: allowed to kill pirates. gets bounties for these. AND THATS IT. Also -- no rule against relogging into system after death. You can come back and fight again if you want. If they spawn camp, someone else will come help. FINALLY -- No need for individual factions IDs. All factions are either pirate, police or trader. AND THATS IT. Simple. You can rp if you like but essentially the above is all there is to ruuning an mmorpg game of that type. Called oorp one time to many times - Titan - 09-08-2008 Meh the rules and everything is fine, and being called ooRP when you do something wrong is fine as well, there's always room for improvement in everyone, even in me o.O. But anyway, point is, if you're unsure whether you've done something wrong or not, ask some friends or on the forums, though I suggest you stay far away from the forums as from what I noticed they do nothing but cause stress for people thanks to some less intelligent members of the community, which like to post a lot, and troll and flame a lot. If you know what you did does not break any rules, then stick to it and play that way. RP develops over time, rare are those who come to the server fully capable of immersing themselves into what we call RP around here. Its difficult and frustrating, but if you find a way to ignore the sanction happy idiots, you can have a great time around here. I know I have. So what I really want to say is, find your own path, stick to it hard, RP and enjoy:) No one else's opinion should matter on how you enjoy the game, if you're doing it by the book. Called oorp one time to many times - BugsBunny - 09-08-2008 I have also found out that the best way to deal with these rule lawyers is to keep in your RP and remain totally silent towards their OORP accusations. Just make sure you know what the rules are. |
