Economy and population in this game are absolute must have and priority for every playstyle, even if you only want to conquer everything. That saying, having such systems allows you to spam battleships like mad. So ye, that's how you do it.

Did the math:
With mid-teir tech and weapons (beam cannons and missile salvos, complimented with fighter squadrons obviously) I can churn out 9 dreadnoughts in one turn
Highest tech, about 3, and a fleet of smaller vessels
AI cant even touch me and my armada

My tactic tends to be making money in big mass, then buying the unverse slowly. This kind of negotiations always work better with other human players, as it is very rare (yet possible) to be able to purchase an entire system from any AI player.

It's named "Endless Space"... You could somehow compare it to the nice old Master of Orion... the gameplay is quite different though.
It's a turn-based strategy 4X space game. Pretty amusing, simple enough for being able to play it relaxedly without focusing too much on the details, but complex enough to not be boring.

could you link a good let'splay or something to help me get started with the game? I started a new game in tutorial mode but the "tutorial" is just a picture labelling the interface and a long paragraph of text, which feels very unintuitive. (I am new to 4x and the closest I've come to playing one is Sins)
