Visualize - Colonel Z.e.r.o. - 09-10-2008 I know there's a bunch of artists here. And I've been trying to sketch out things I like. But I'm having trouble projecting my ideas on paper. I can feel the shape of the subject the color, size and all. But when comes down to it I can't get a fix on paper. What are some of the things you/I can do to strengthen my ability to project? Visualize - Dopamino - 09-10-2008 Practice, practice, practice. Try to focus on your mental image intently with no distractions until you can see it clearly. Then draw. Visualize - Colonel Z.e.r.o. - 09-10-2008 I recognize people make an outlineshap. how do you decide on wether or not it's effective in a specific position? Visualize - Tenacity - 09-10-2008 ey, i got the same problem. I see things clear as day in my head, but I cant put them on paper (or even into 3ds max) worth a damn. It always ends up looking wrong. Visualize - Xing - 09-11-2008 Practice. It took me... 5 years? to get to the level where I am today. I think the first step if refining your drawing quality. To achieve this, it is preferable to try to copy a drawing from a profesional. Don't take anything that seems obviously way out of your capacity range, but neither something too easy. I personally choose to copy mangas (they are simple, easy and fast to draw and looks fairly good). When you think your copying work starts looking fairly enough like originals, then you may begin working on your own creations, trying to project things from your head on paper. The second step, would mostly about proportionality... something in which I fail lamentably 50% of the time. It is preferable to draw a basic structure of what you want to do before drawing the real thing. It helps you situate roughly the proportions (for instance, a human body on a realistical scale can be divided in 6 and 1/2 pieces, 1 piece being the height of the head, or torso, so on, where feet would be 1/2) Remember, never use a ruler. Go by your eyes. A very important rule, when you draw, stop at about every 5 minutes, take a moment to look at your work from a distance to see if proportions are making sense before continuing. Often, I work hard on a picture to realise at the end completely that some proportions are off. And finally, its fairly simple. The more you do of it, the better you get at it. Visualize - Xing - 09-14-2008 nope... though I could say I can manage it. Visualize - Jazz - 09-15-2008 ' Wrote:ey, i got the same problem.
