Smuggling corporation? - dr lameos - 09-19-2008

I'm not gonna make this anymore, if you want to steal the idea feel free:

For a while I've been considering starting a guild of smugglers...
however all that would add is individual smugglers working as a team

But now I've started thinking along an alteration of that - a smuggling BUSINESS

We would trade lawfully, unless given a contract by another faction, to deliver goods from anywhere to anywhere.

For instance the Outcasts might want 200,000 units of cardamine taken to planet Kyushu... for an agreed fee it would be done.

Or Bretonia might want us to bring them 50,000 tonnes of Plutonium

Of course because we trade lawfully aswell we could accept laful contracts... as said

ANYTHING TO ANYWHERE

So we could work as neutral... accepting contracts from anyone and everyone.

Is there anything similar out there right now? All I've seen is independant smugglers.

Bump...

Nothing? No thoughts/questions/opinions/flames/suggestions/references at all??

:(

Well, considering that you would carry both lawful and unlawful goods, calling it the smugglers guild would make people assume that you haul unlawful goods only. Not only would this bring the attention to yourself that unlawful contractors are trying to avoid, but it would also dissuade lawful contractors from using your services.

I would suggest a more neutral name like Sirius Logistics Guild or something like that.

I know, I wouldn't call it the Smugglers Guild

(I was part of a faction called Traders Guild... which is pretty much dead now)

Names can be thought out later...

What I want to know is:
Is there any similar corps?
is there any interest in organized quazi-legal smuggling?

There used to be a smugglers Union who where pretty much a smuggelers group, For some reason they are no longer with us. Probably because of the fact that Liberty was and still is the main termination point of many smuggeling runs and new york is pretty much filled with an overkill of Navy.

I would support a group of smuggelers but I suggest you do it under a legal front company

There is a Cardamine smuggling faction, BLS.

But for Artifacts and other contraband, there is no 'smuggling' faction. The Junkers sort of do it, though the official .:j:. faction doesn't very often as they want to maintain civil relations with most governments. I want to see the .:j:. start smuggling to the Blood Dragons and GC in Kusari.. I could see them doing that. In payment the GC/BD would pay for it, and do their best to destroy as many Hogosha as possible, opening the Kusari market to the Junkers.. And Bretonia would be grateful for it as well.

Just start up something called the Sirius Black Market =P

Thankyou for the information...

It wouldn't be unlawful... when not doing contracts they will trade lawfully, and even receive lawful contracts

Like you say... most cardamine ends up in Liberty, We could be hired to transport it elsewhere - Bretonia, Kusari for instance.

Bretonia might need some Plutonium, we could be hired to bring it
Kusari might need some deterium, we can be hired

As long as they understand that we do not favour any faction... we work for the highest bidder

Freelancing traders

Like said, for an acceptable price ANYTHING, ANY QUANTITY, ANYWHERE

doesn't have to be unlawful, it depends what people want us to transport

I prefer Quasi-legal (so every vessel and shipment should be dealt with individually - like smuggler ID is)
If cargo is scanned by forces, and submitted in evidence that illegal cargoes are onboard, the fines would be paid.

The fines the lawfulls charge are a outrage be carefull that does not come back to haunt you

QFT

It's bad enough they destroy your cargo, but trying to charge 2-5 million or more on top of it?

Lawfuls are worse than pirates. Further, the extent of their RP is "lol drop or die", they go where they shouldnt (i.e. cutting you off at jump holes they shouldnt even know about), and it doesnt matter if you're carrying 5000 units of cardamine or 5, they'll brand you some enemy of the galaxy, put you on a blacklist, and destroy your ship every time you set foot in the system again.

yet, they dont pay attention to pirates blowing up legal traders 5 trade lane rings away.
