IDEA: New Projectile-based Machine Gun for Battleships? - Black Widow - 01-09-2015 I have been thinking about new interesting weapons for capital ships and I noticed there is a lack of projectile based weapons except for the regular missiles there is nothing else other than energy weapons, lazers etc. So why dont we have some kind of ammo based projectile gun that shoots projectiles at a high rate similar to a large machinegun or cannon. It could be a weapon such that given the projectiles are made of metal could have limited effect on shields but do massive hull damage over time when the shields are down on the ship being fired at. It could have a refire of 300 - 500 rounds per min and a ammo limit of say 10,000 to 20,000. What do you think, machine gun on battleships? Old world technology but still brutally effective when its metal on metal. Could be a new class 9 or class 8 turret for battleships... This is the very same reason why my idea about fighter Zappers was refused. RE: IDEA: New Projectile-based Machine Gun for Battleships? - SystemsFailing - 01-09-2015 By the way, I assume that flak is long dead as for now, but there were many great ideas implemented, such as: NPC wingmen, randomly dropping rares (various improved gear modules, guns etc.), Nomads, appearing randomly in every system by chance and some more interesting thingies that I can not remember atm. I wish devs could take a closer look to that mod, in case they would be looking for any innovations. NPC Wingmen were discussed and ultimately denied as we don't want NPCs showing up in the middle of every pvp fight (like dudes spawning 4 wings of bombers). This concrete idea is really arguable, but having just 1-2 stupid and poorly-geared fighters would probably warm one's soul. We should simply remove CDs from NPC gunboats. Bigger ships would not the problems as long as nothing CDs you. It is already hard to PvE (e.g. to pirate on pirate char) with people, if there are >100 players on the server, because no NPC shows up. |
