Fighter torpedoes - kikatsu - 01-28-2015 I mean things like the sunslayer and starkiller torpedo launcher. Do they have a place in this mod right now? How can they get a place in this mod? Should they be for taking out bigger ships, like mini-bomber torpedoes, or designed to hit smaller targets like fighters? If they are to be used against big ships, how do we balance something like that? Give them long range, decent tracking, and a slower startup time... coupled with high damage and very few rounds? If against fighters, what? Make them like how cannonballs are now? I dunno, anyone have ideas in regards to anything? RE: Fighter torpedoes - Highland Laddie - 01-28-2015 Would be nice if both were more equipped to damage GBs. Haven't really used either of them since like...4.85, though, so I dunno. RE: Fighter torpedoes - nOmnomnOm - 01-28-2015 a missile is different than a torp. from how i understood it back in the day it was like... torps fire only forwards with no tracking but missiles track.... But in today's terms torps are underwater and missile are air.... What I think is that Torps should be like what Cannonballs have been changed to. Fire straight and slow and mostly for things like GB or transport. Nothing above that.... the nova torpedo is for that. Great example for bombers. RE: Fighter torpedoes - t0l - 01-28-2015 they're slow projectiles with mild tracking that chunk snubs paired with high damage missiles like the cannonball they can one shot deshielded VHFs and maybe some light bombers theyve been very effective in the last mod version actually, even on regular snubs like the surveyor RE: Fighter torpedoes - Internity - 01-28-2015 Starkiller torpedo doesn't need any changes. It's perfect to use against fighters / transports /bombers. Sunslayer on the other hand it's slower than Starkiller and I would just make it a bit faster. RE: Fighter torpedoes - Haste - 01-28-2015 They are most likely going to be removed/replaced as missiles largely take their role anyways. RE: Fighter torpedoes - sindroms - 01-28-2015 Haste. What if you give torpedoes the current cannonball ''flack'' system with the huge detonation trigger radius. Make the starkiller hull-focused, while making the Sunslater EMP based - Both dumbfire torpedoes. Keep cannonball damage stats and reverse the cannonballs to 85 standards. Also, increase the energy usage so that SHFs cannot spam them. Or keep them as a much more slow-moving torpedo alternative to the much faster cannonball. Gogo. RE: Fighter torpedoes - Goks - 01-28-2015 (01-28-2015, 09:33 PM)sindroms Wrote: Haste. I totaly agree with this by giving them diffrent role, yet if you make their radius big paired with CD you can cause to blow you're self up, just like with mines and CD. Correct me if am wrong. RE: Fighter torpedoes - Fluffyball - 01-28-2015 I'm fine with current setting. Why? If you want to mount torpedo on fighter (what you really can't do on LF, but only on HF and VHF), you need to sacrifice CD, what makes you unable to chase target down all alone. Note that not all torpedoes can be mounted onto CD slot, which is another reason for leaving it as it is.
