New Antivirus? - SMGSterlin - 02-03-2015 So I've been using AVG since my first computer back in like 6th grade. I'm kinda tired of AVG at this point, they advertise too much with pop-ups, and I think there's probably another antivirus out there that uses less resources. Suggestions? RE: New Antivirus? - VinitS - 02-03-2015 1. Bit Defender Free (Small Program Install and forget, No ads or anything, it doesn't give much options though) 2. Malwarebytes Free (you need to be smart enough not to click on wrong places on thw web, otherwise BEST) 3. Awast is Okay. RE: New Antivirus? - Vulkhard Muller - 02-03-2015 Microsoft Security Essentials Go no further Also nice addons are: MalwareBytes Super AntiSpyware Ccleaner Advanced System Care RE: New Antivirus? - Ellie - 02-03-2015 I've been using Microsoft Security Essentials for quite a while and I would definitely recommend it. I find Avast pretty good as well. RE: New Antivirus? - sindroms - 02-03-2015 The other company I work in gave us copies of the ESET file security system software. It is pretty damn good and runs quietly in the background and does its stuff without the whole popup bull. RE: New Antivirus? - baivan - 02-03-2015 Since you are using it so long id recommend to keep it. No point in switching. RE: New Antivirus? - MÃmir - 02-03-2015 I use Avast, it seems to be working fine. No/few annoying adds. No false positives (Besides the rare keygen, even then it just gives you a notification, doesnt delete it outright) small active footprint, and from what I've seen, never misses its mark. Of course it's not so good at malware (like those 45 toolbars your grandmother might have on her browser or something) so malwarebytes ist gud AVG made my laptop chug along and even after I had uninstalled it, it kept spamming me with giant taskbar popups. Just as bad as any virus, had to purge it from my laptop entirely. RE: New Antivirus? - Error - 02-03-2015 MSE is actually pretty damn good indeed by now, and particularly so when used in conjunction with MBAM and Spybot now and then for good measure. MSE plus occasional Spybot scans are what I've been using for years now on all my Windows computers after getting tired of Avast's popup ads, and I can't say that I've had any (known) issues with viruses/spyware/malware for at least that long. I also use AVG and I have no problems with it, even with pop-ups... |
