Codename Question... - gemini - 10-01-2008

Is there such a thing as class 9 or even class 8 codenames?

I know in original FL they were all class 10 but Ive heard some players mention class 8 and 9 ones in Disco.
Is this true?

Codename Question... - SanjitVignesh - 10-01-2008

That is not true. There doesn't exist any class 8 or 9 codenames.

Definitely not true only class 10s around here.

Though there are some class 9 that have the potential
to be a code name seein as how strong they are

Codenames are weapons which are developed for certain purposes. Now, if you consider Freelancer as real life, those codenames would have a unique value. So, however powerful a normal weapon maybe it can't be considered a codename.

Codename Question... - gemini - 10-01-2008

I ask because Im in the market for a Griffin, and for a multitude of reasons I am not switching my choice.
I love that ship.
I want to get the best class 8/9 guns there are to make up for the fact that its only got four mounts.
The Adv debilitators are nice little class 8 anti-shield guns, but Im looking for something to go on the 9 slots that will give me half a chance against larger more heavily outfitted fighters and nasty NPCs.

Now that I know there is no such beast as a class 9 codename... I can go look under the regular gun catalouge.

Don't worry about that, there are weapons that are more powerful than codenames. Codenames just have rarity and are unique in lokks, that's all.

What faction is your griffin going to be flying for? As that will determine the guns you use to a greater degree than anything else.

For a light fighter I advise a fast refire gun with low energy consumption.

You ain't gunna kill anything quickly in an LF, but they're a great anti bomber weapon.

I actually tend to go a middle road on weapons where I have a limited number of mounts going for a balance between the refire and the damage and counting on my agaility and accuracy to make up for a somewhat decreased refire.

I and my brother will both be generic pirate pilots but very well up with the Corsairs, the Order, and to some degree the Zoners.

Why not try using Salamancas and Furies? They're both quite good, especially the Salies. I would more than suggest them, especially if you're a Corsair-esque pirate.

I agree. Salamancas are possibly the best weapons you can throw on an LF. They're incredibly efficient guns.
