New Ship Idea, just read once - VinitS - 04-08-2015 Blaster Ships/ Asteroid Pavers........on the line of ICE BREAKER SHIPS. * making way for capital ships* We can use any Bombership with 1 OVER POWERED GUN, which will blast a hole in asteroid field for few minutes. This will allow the capital ships to move, so a fleet with have a Asteroid Breaker in front. After FIXED time the asteroid will cover the hole again. The GUN can have a charge time or something.. Its just an Ideal, please spare me if its stupid
RE: New Ship Idea, just read once - Gateway Shipping Inc - 04-08-2015 InRP, an interesting and worthwhile idea. In-game implementation - would become a bloated, abused cap killer. RE: New Ship Idea, just read once - Thunderer - 04-08-2015 I think it would be impractical. It's a lot faster to go through asteroids or, if you don't have to, just go around them. Removing each asteroid on the way would take too long. RE: New Ship Idea, just read once - Pancakes - 04-08-2015 Not impractical or anything, just impossible. The rocks in FL are stationary objects, you can't remove them unless you give each one health as if it was a weapon platform RE: New Ship Idea, just read once - nOmnomnOm - 04-09-2015 realistically though.... rocks in space move so... i dont see how this works RE: New Ship Idea, just read once - Tarator - 04-09-2015 (04-09-2015, 01:02 AM)nOmnomnOm Wrote: realistically though.... rocks in space move so... i dont see how this works If we have to talk about whats realistic and what not, asteroid fields in real are not as dense as they are shown in games and movies, in fact the chances of you hitting a rock inside lets say the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter while in a space craft, are very thin, even nearly none. It's just that the distance between objects is very large and all you may meet up with would be dust. Anyway, the idea sounds cool but if ever implemented, it'll have to be limited in some way to prevent abuses, but still.... I don't see how it could be implemented at all, it sounds rather impossible. RE: New Ship Idea, just read once - nOmnomnOm - 04-09-2015 Would the asteroids come back after server restart? Would lets say me and my buddies all get these ships and take out all of the rocks in the badlands? ![]() Edit: Nvm but that would be funny right? RE: New Ship Idea, just read once - VinitS - 04-09-2015 Asteroids will just disappear for few minutes...not destroy....a big tunnel like disappearance...n that Overpowered gun can be in effective on ships like Minning turrets...once your blastership is destroyed YOU ARE STUCK
RE: New Ship Idea, just read once - Caconym - 04-12-2015 As previously stated, it's impossible; asteroids are completely fixed objects (like space stations) and so being able to influence them in-game would require giving every single rock in the game health stats, an explosion effect, and a few other things. Can be done, but not worth the time investment. Plus you'd be able to clear them with regular guns anyway, so you'd have people just using missiles or torpedoes to clear stuff, or just ramming through them and letting their shields take care of the rest. RE: New Ship Idea, just read once - icedsdcard - 05-02-2015 Don't think it's really worth it, but for what it's worth, 88 flak has scrap fields(asteroids too? don't recall) that can be shot, at which point they drop their item, float around and can bounce off your ship easily. So it's possible, but people will likely just clear them with cap guns or whatever unless the asteroid breaker could somehow do extra damage(shield type? not sure). You'd also have to ask them(they'd probably be fine, but I don't know if disco refuses to even think of asking for other mods' things). tl;dr Not really worth it. |
