Money limit is 1 billion, which is about level 91, but you may go higher by having some valuable equipment I think. Though it's hardly required for anything.

Well (not trying to show off here as I know some people have more) I have aa char ranking 88 and that is about 850mill when you get that high it takes ages for each rank my trader is rank 80 and it only has 325mill. I might go and see what the max rank is by moving some cash around. ;)

Well apart from if an admin feels like testing that I don't think anyone here can afford it (actualy I am 99.99999999...% sure they no one can ;) )
Look all this talking about max rank has made me want to get see what max rank (without filling cargo up) is.

P.S. I am guessing you can't go over rank 99 even with credit cards as that would be an extrd number and it might not be programed to have that.

max level i've *EVER* seen is 98. That's from someone who has done just about everything in Freelancer...
Trade, took on every mission possible, learned how to go from one faction alignment to another, etc etc etc.
Money influences your level, but WHAT you've done with your character influences your level much more.
