A New Idea For Disco - TheFreelancer - 06-13-2015 (Before anyone says anything, this might have been suggested before, i didnt check if it was) But what about a ship class kilda like bombers, a bit less agile but, theyre minelayers, they can equipt like 2 or 3 mine droppers at once(perhaps special mines for minelayers that like stay around for a long time, or do more damage or somthing, like special torps for bombers!), i honestly think it would be a good idea, but they are slow (180 m/s thrust speed, 375 cruise) they can hold more mines then a fighter and use fighter guns(or perhaps a new gun just for them) But i honestly think this idea could work and it would be a fun new idea, and it could make big fights that bit more interesting! RE: A New Idea For Disco - nOmnomnOm - 06-13-2015 Have you looked into the Spatial perhaps? RE: A New Idea For Disco - nOmnomnOm - 06-13-2015 Well practically... you would just CD spam that ship... and it would die :S I mean it is interesting but... with one CD all your work is gone to waste!

RE: A New Idea For Disco - Tabris - 06-13-2015 The idea is interesting, but I am concerned how it would be coded in (Mines tend to vanish/selfexplode after a set period of time.). Plus that many objects may put more stress upon the server due to alot more objects being in space that require processing power. :S RE: A New Idea For Disco - Epo - 06-13-2015 Bombers, which are used properly, already can already deliver a lot of damage. Also if you take eg. the Waran (as it's one of the heaviest bombers in Disco) and give it less agility it will be extremaly easy target to shoot. Its mines can be neutralised with CD and vessel can be easily shot down by snubs and even some caps. However, your idea is a bit interesting RE: A New Idea For Disco - Fluffyball - 06-13-2015 The idea is interesting, but also makes me wonder about another idea. What about special units that would deploy mine-like objects that are in fact micro-turrets (still easily destructible but with more HP than normal mine and deployed only by units bigger than bombers and freighters)? Such idea is present in the Honor Harrington universe, in which such platforms are firing missiles. They are also a more likely (real life) space warfare scenario for "space minelayer", in which these would be more satellite deployer. RE: A New Idea For Disco - MÃmir - 06-13-2015 Or just point your ships toward your enemy and fire your guns. RE: A New Idea For Disco - sindroms - 06-13-2015 There were many suggestions about mines, but many of them had huge flaws. For example, one of them was giving gunboats a nova-damage-wielding mine, which had a lifespan of 5 minutes and did not move. I recreated this on my server and below is an example of why it would be a hugely bad idea. |
