Character names at the start of a message. - Komitoza - 08-07-2015

I was wondering, if it is possible to code something like a setmsg. But instead of it setting a message it automatically puts your characters name in the text box when you press enter. So instead of having to type your chars name every time, if you are flying a Capital Ship/Transport/Codenamed ship and sometimes forgetting to do it, you can always have it automatically put for you.

Also it should have an on/off option, or if you are flying a ship with multiple characters in it, like a set message it should have /setname 1/2/3/4/5/6 or something like that. Discuss.

I actually find the act to be very silly and distracting. Sadly, I cannot stop doing it, because back in ye-oldy days it was the only way to show that you were a ''proper'' RPer in a cap ship. So it stuck.

I never do it and I find it extremely silly, unless I have to RP several characters at once.

Which like, happens never, since I RP never.

In any case, suppose that'd be a nice addition for some.

It's just a little extra of how much effort you're investing into RPing. Nothing obligates you to do it, but if you do it certainly helps inRP. I doubt they'll make a command specifically for that.

Wait, isn't that the standard for capital ship RP? You can even RP a mutiny, a corrupt captain hiding his dealings with pirates from the crew and so on. It's not that hard to type it, really.

You also don't need to type it every single time; if you have a continuity of time, space, characters (also, people involved) everyone will know that it's the same character speaking. You then only type the name when someone new appears (be it a player or another char of yours speaking).

Yeah there is a way. Name your character LNS-Dallas-Cpt.Wayne

Very funny indeed.

On a serious note, cant you set your setmesage 1 to "Cpt.John.Wayne:" and then type

/1 Yipee ai ey

and the thing will say

Cpt.John.Wayne: Yipee ai ey

?

I didnt try it cause I never use setmsg but I was under the impression that this already worked.
