It's not about me, it's about returning things to their former glory, the grand restoration of Disco to its righteously revered days, when members could choose their own titles.

I'm all for a certain post count requirement to allow for a custom user title.
However, it shouldnt be an open change system whereby a person changes it themselves. It should be such that the requested titles is submitted to staff, so as to avoid any problematic ones, and then staff change it.
