Feedback Threads - Antonio - 08-13-2015 Seriously people, what the hell is going on with feedback threads recently? All I see is negative comments, crying and complaining. Have we really come to a point where if your faction feedback thread has no posts in it, it means you're doing a good job and everyone's happy? What hapened to positive feedbacks? They're not even 1/10 of posts in those threads. Not to mention endless discussing and arguing which sooner or later results in a mod interfeering with warning people and closing threads. Might aswell rename them all to drama threads. Time to loosen up a bit and reduce expectations from everyone. And write a positive feedback sometimes, it doesn't hurt. RE: Feedback Threads - Starflier - 08-13-2015 I think the kudoses, usually end up in that dedicated thread. I think if we lock the Kudos thread, we'll see more positive replies in feedback pages. Edit: Anyway I'm off to post another feedback message xD RE: Feedback Threads - SnakeLancerHaven - 08-13-2015 (08-13-2015, 09:53 AM)Starflier Wrote: I think the kudoses, usually end up in that dedicated thread. Or NO Positive replies at all XDD RE: Feedback Threads - Epo - 08-13-2015 (08-13-2015, 10:11 AM)Snake Wrote:(08-13-2015, 09:53 AM)Starflier Wrote: I think the kudoses, usually end up in that dedicated thread. Could be as well xD RE: Feedback Threads - Mímir - 08-13-2015 Yes, a lot of players are less inclined to leave positive feedback. That's natural - we are more likely to speak up when we feel we have been treated wrongly or when we think we might be able to offer advice that be useful for a positive change. It can be argued that we have the kudos thread for giving thumbs up. I think it is important to have expectations towards each other, and from factions. I don't think those expectations have to be set unrealistically high, but it has to match the way the faction portray itself, its code of conduct and so on. That's often where feedback stems from: An experienced mismatch between what the faction says and what it actually does. The main issue with feedback threads, as I see it, is that the recipients in almost all feedback threads get apprehensive and act like they've been personally violated. Sometimes it boils down to "pics or it didn't happen", when you would think that in a small community like ours we should be able to trust what another player tells us, or at least listen to what they have to say. There are more small things like that which are so retarded when you realize that we are no more than 100-200 players. Basically most feedback threads seem to be about various ways to shut people up, ranging from the "Ahaha I'm too cool and well-connected to even bother myself with your petty feedback" to "OMG why are you guys hating on us like that, have you no hearts you cruel and terrible monsters?!". That seems to lead to frustration (or fuels it further - I suppose frustration is already an element to some degree when someone decides to post feedback outside of the kudos thread), and you often see things spiral out of control quickly. To top it off you have a new team of quite thin-skinned mods who locks, warns, and bans indiscriminately, and that's often when things really get out of hand. If you want to leave feedback these days, you need to write a long disclaimer saying "I'm not a hater, I love you guys, this is the best faction I have ever seen, BUT..." which should be totally unnecessary. In a recent feedback thread, it came to light that the faction in question for a long time have been harboring some grudges towards the faction that complained - it's a problem when players and factions cannot freely tell another faction what they would like to see from it to improve relations and fun. It's a problem that feedback is always looked on as something horrible and negative, "something you wouldn't do to another faction", when sometimes those discussions could fuel a positive change. In many cases what is written in the feedback threads would be mutually beneficial if people could just chill out a little. RE: Feedback Threads - Antonio - 08-13-2015 Kudos are more for individual praise, not faction one. And I have to agree there with almost everything you said Mimir - people do get too defensive when they get criticized. And they are likely to post a negative than positive one, but the ratio between the two is way off. RE: Feedback Threads - Mímir - 08-14-2015 Yes why do they even exist? They are all the same, answers are all the same. Why not just shut them all down? Every single answer in a feedback thread ends up getting treated the same way. It isn't exactly helping the game get any better. It's an utter joke, in fact. RE: Feedback Threads - nOmnomnOm - 08-14-2015 (08-14-2015, 10:13 PM)Mímir Wrote: Yes why do they even exist? RE: Feedback Threads - Deeceem - 08-14-2015 The actual problem is that people mistake feedback threads as "Faction XY discussions, suggestions, requests and demands" threads. You can voice your opinion about whatever you have on your mind about the faction itself in those threads (feedback), that's it. In fact you aren't even entitled to get an answer and further more not to get your hunger for internet-discussions or your suggestions, requests or demands fulfilled. Usually with feedback threads the same rule applies as with reports: "Take 30 minutes off the forums, eat a sandwhich and then decide if it is really worth posting." Well if that is the case, what is the point? What can ever be achieved from these threads other than "Hey I don't like that you did this" / "Ok" ? I am being serious here. I mean really look at how almost every feedback thread controversies (not just mine) spawn, builds up and gets defused; it is actually quite funny. You can peruse them for your own leisure - it's like we got some future politicians and media people in here, always trying to dodge instead of just tackling things heads-on. Not all, John(!), but a large part. |
