Hello guys and girls I'm having to learn to drive a car (work)...and was wondering if anyone on here has some advice ie what car to buy. shall I do intensive course or spread our lessons. I have rode motorcycles since I was 16 on the road so have road sense any advice. I was thinking a Nissan micra 2003+ or a Suzuki alto but tbh Im a biker and have no idea on cars to me they're a cage on wheels...

I'm guessing you're looking for an entry level car if you're currently learning. Seat Ibiza, Ford Focus or Volkswagen Golf are all fairly good hatchbacks that can be found fairly cheap - Golf's are usually a bit more expensive because they're a bit racier and generally better built.
If you're a masochist with severe self-hate problems, you could also look into the Ford KA, but they're cheap for a reason and I would strongly advise against actually considering one.
For lessons, I did them spread out over several months and passed first time without any problems. Some of my friends opted for the intensive course and also did fine, although I've also known a few who've had to retake numerous times with it. They both basically work out the same in practical terms, although long term is usually easier to pay for.

Ah cheers for help guys, I've spoken to my insurance company who does my bike who also deals with car insurance and will offer a discount which will save abit of money but they said avoid the golf due to higher premiums due to boy racers and with my age id tally into that (23)
I have about £2000 to do all this ie car insurance, tax, car it self, lessons, both tests and have 3 months to do it or risk loosing the promotion....I hope that amont should be enough

The Golf (and to an extent Ibiza) does have that stigma, yeah - like I said, it's a bit racier.
You can get a Focus very cheap if you're willing to look at older cars, and you'll need to when you consider the cost of insurance and tax. £2,000 isn't necessarily going to go very far on a newer car.
I'd recommend looking at a 1.4 petrol, ideally, because that'll keep your insurance fairly low, while being enough to generally get you where you need to go.
Above that (1.6 - 1.8+) will make motorways more efficient and comfortable, but you'll also notice your insurance and fuel bill spiking accordingly.

Not really. Top Gear is funny, but ridiculously unhelpful when it comes to choosing actual viable low to medium priced cars. Unless you're trying to decide between a Ferrari 448 and a Jaguar XE or something like that, it's just entertainment.
