IMG Signature - beander2 - 10-27-2008
IMG needs a sig, one that can double as a banner. We'd like the sig to incorporate the following elements:
1. Some sort of visual representation of our profile here (first section): IMG Faction Proposal
2. In addition to #1, something that illustrates our versatility (mining, trade, exploration, shipbuilding, defense) in some way.
3. Includes some element - a defining symbol or image - that can be cropped and used as an icon and/or avatar.
4. "Medium" sized - not so large that other sigs cannot be included in a members signature.
We're interested in something as creative and compelling as possible, and I'll pay up to 50 million for the selected sig.

I don't know what could really represent the IMG to be frank... its one of those very vague faction to me. Plus I'm not too good at commercial logo either

It is quite vauge actually. I have been working on a IMG logo for a while and I still can't get anything together.
Thou it does make me wonder if the lack of faction idenity isnt on purpose.

Hmm...I had very little trouble conceiving of its identity in the profile. I realize that's text rather than visual arts, but I think it's doable.

1) just link it;)
2) pic 1 or 2, remember you are looking for something that is small. too much can take over the pic and not accomplish anything else you want in it.
3) if you want a logo/symbol done up ask for one. to say you are going to crop it out of the original work in all honesty is blaspheme to the artist (or even those of us) that make a picture.
4) small = 1/4, med = 1/2 and large = 1. thus with a max of 700x200 you are looking at something of 350x100.... would this size be what you are looking for?
btw what does IMG build? not seen much with any of them.

2. #1 and #2 are not mutually exclusive. On the other point, I was hoping for some creative symbolism of multiple functions; if that isn't possible, I'll adjust. I'm wide open to different approaches to this, but I wanted to avoid simply "mining," since that's not all IMG does anymore.
3. Actually, I have been in discussions on that, but there's been some block in communcation. I don't necessarily list everything I've done on this matter in a request. And it isn't "blasphemy" if the artist deliberately incorporates it into the sig; I didn't intend to crop myself, but to ask the artist to do it, and with an additional fee, if necessary.
4. Medium, yes.
Check the wiki - Spatial, IMG Gunboat, Albatross BC and perhaps something in 4.85.

On #1 and #2, let me try to clarify:
1. In view of our guild profile (the backstory), something that demonstrates scrappy (not the dog) workers trying to eek out an existence in rough space. Also, people who are convinced that such an independent but hard existence is to be preferred to a repressed, but in certain ways easier, existence in a house or working for a corrupt corporation.
2. Something that doesn't just pin us as only mining, but incorporates somehow a versatility of work - exploration, mining, trading, defense. Doesn't have to have a separate symbol for each of these (and text worked into a nice image is possible, too), but it can't be something that reduces IMG to only one.
