Fighters and Capital Ships - Walker - 12-19-2015 So most of you have fought me before. Especially if you're a Xeeer. I am no noob when it comes to snubfighting. It has been brought to my attention that between parameter editing, greater fov, jittering, etc, etc... that pretty much anyone who wants to fly VHFs legally is going to be at a huge disadvantage. I've not fought a single person in the past three days who wasn't using either of these things, and when I later challenged these individuals in Conn, switching them over and running them myself, yes, I admit it. I was actually able to match them in turn battles and everything else. Without that? I am fighting a guy who pretty much just has to fly at the edge of my screen, my guns cannot reach that far, but he is simply hammering me. With that? We're actually firing back at each other and the fight is mostly a good show. Vysnc enabled? Even if I start turning at 300m out, they have already turned and are firing at me by the time I turn around. When I disable vsync and run things, I turn at 300 meters, I out turn the person, I can see them beginning their turn as well. In fact, back in .84 and .85 this was completely normal for me, the fight was a very smooth transition from passes. Not this extremely spastic rave that it is today. In fact, it feels more of a NORMAL fight for me to disable vsync and such as with it enabled, I am consistently stomped every time. An increasing number of older people who still pop in but have mostly given up on Discovery have shared similar complaints that they have stopped piloting snubs and gone to capital ships as these are not concerns or problems in capfights. I wanted to get some other opinions on the matter. I feel like snubfighting is pretty much ruined at this point and that if anyone wants to enjoy dogfights they'll just have to go to Freeworlds. RE: Fighters and Capital Ships - Salmin - 12-19-2015 =LSF=Stephen.Rogers ? You jittered, you loose. RE: Fighters and Capital Ships - sindroms - 12-19-2015 I just fly my caps. I do not care what kind of shait they use, I just poopoo all over them with all-out-zoomed solaris GBs. Haven't touched snubs for a year, due to reasons somewhere between what you described and my own personal lack of skill. RE: Fighters and Capital Ships - Moberg - 12-19-2015 I know a few people who have vSync off. The wording of the rules specifically imply that disabling vSync is allowed, as long as it does not net you more than 160 fps. So most people disable vSync but artificially limit their FPS to 120 or something, which nets you much less sluggish controls in games like DotA, Counter Strike, Freelancer and many more. And if you're not satisfied with snub combat (which I perfectly understand, tbh), then you might want to try capital ship combat. It's fairly fun. Actually my FPS was 100, 160 is too high. If i`ll put my vSync on with 59 fps, nothing changes. He is just newbie at snubs. RE: Fighters and Capital Ships - Durandal - 12-19-2015 If you'd like, I wouldn't mind giving you some pointers in Conn. A lot of people seem to be claiming cheats for skill these days, don't listen to a word of it and don't let it deter you from flying snubs. RE: Fighters and Capital Ships - Traxit - 12-19-2015 the only cheat you can see these days are Fisheye or other macro programs which let you shoot far beyond your third person view, giving them an INSANE advantage, Ironically most of those users tend to use Flashpoints extremely well... I think it has to do something with enabling turret view and still flying as if you're in third person view. aaand chainfire macros, too. RE: Fighters and Capital Ships - SystemsFailing - 12-19-2015 Don't you dare to disappoint me with those silly words, Trax. RE: Fighters and Capital Ships - Swallow - 12-19-2015 @Traxit , there is nothing criminal in using TS on snubs, because it gives doubtful advantage. Though I have no idea on FOV or as you call it "macros". I am just defending keyboard steering in turret view (because everyone is equal here being able to use it by just switching to turret view).
