Serious Laptop Issues - Incindre - 10-30-2008

Hey there everyone

My mate has recently got a new laptop, A Sony Vaio of some kind (I've googled its model number and nothing comes up which I find most odd) and it has serious issues with some games. Freelancer Included.
It is running Vista Home Premium with integrate Intel graphics. (A useless chip that screws up Battlefront II all the time unless you join a multiplayer game through X-fire... then it works fine... go figure).
Most of my mates being big Freelancer Discovery fans we have it installed on all our machines with discovery 4.84. We installed it on his laptop and the mod activated fine and everything but when we come to run it it pops up with a little box saying something like "the character file is missing" or it can't find it. These "missing files" change everytime we try to start it up and when we look through the folders in the Freelancer directory every single one it has mentioned is there.

What is going on? Will a reinstall fix it or is there something more sinister here?

Regards

When this happened to me I had to insure FLMM was going to the right FL install directory.

In FLMM go to something like options -> choose a new FL directory

(it should be something like that)

Then make sure you choose the right FL folder.

What I did, is reinstalled FL to a Folder named "Freelancer2" then designated that.

Ok will tell him to do that, thanks. What directory should FLMM be installed it?
(damn it, you rick rolled me!)

Grr, We checked the directories and everything is in the right place... probably some stupid vista bug.

have you checked to make sure that FLMM and Freelancer are set to administrator on vista?

that is one mentioned, also try using FLAM (Freelancer Account Manager) this might help too.

first check to make sure that FL is running as an admin program.... (search forums vista)
