someone mentioned this game earlier and i remembered i wanted to look it up..

Legions of Iron is an RTS style game - apparently a follow on of Masters of Orion but I think it features real time space saga interplanetary capital ship and fighter combat.

It has multiplayer -- the expansion set delivers skirmish maps.

Anyone able to tell us their eperiences with this game? I am guessing something must be imbalanced in the combat because other than that this should be a fun game for multiplayer...

I had the idea it was much like Sins of a Solar Empire? Why was it not a more visible success?

It was a Beautiful looking game, also fun singleplayer

Though it was very limited, you could have something like 6 military groups, large ships like battleship took up whole slot themselves. So you ended up with 6 large ships and couldnt have fighter wings or corvettes

Im guessing in Multiplayer, everyone would pick same weapon class, Ion. As they instant hit, never miss weapons. Also Blasters, I mean why have fast firing weaker anti fighter weapons when you can have anti capital ship weapons that never miss and instant kill fighters and corvettes as well :P

But to boil it down, an amazing looking game with fun single player, but dumbed down compared to the other space RTS games.
The expansion was also very annoying for those of us waiting, it included no single player campaign, so we were left hanging from the ending to first game :shok:

the explosins where nice the mechanics where fair but there wasnt any stratigy i mean you just got 7 fighters to start then you phase them out for corvetts then you phase the vests out for destroyers then the destroyers for battleships until you had an army of Caps although i copleted the last mission with a spy ship which i found funny

Oh god yes
Level a spy ship up, keep it to last level, fly past 2 enemy systems, dodge their fleets and bases, go to their super base/ship whatever it was

Sabotage mission, Boom, Game Over

Yeah the way larger ships and bases broke apart when being damaged or destroyed was nice

Mining station explosion...

Battleships vs planetary Ion Cannon Mk II... 6 of those, nothing lives.

Playing the game itself is so slow. Wheras SOASE feels fast even though it isn't, Haegemonia just doesnt feel like either. Its good if you have patience, but otherwise, no...

Still, I remember the alien battlestation ripping apart my ships with their lasers. Coolest, deadliest and unbuildable. Just the thing.
