Regarding the restriction on Liberty caps - Jihadjoe - 11-09-2008 Now, I feel I need to write some explanation of this given it's not going to make me a popular man. http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...mp;#entry406762 Lately the LNS cap fleet has increased rather a lot, and I have seen some somewhat dubious gameplay practices with it. Battlecruisers being used to attack lone xenos or rogues in fighters simply isn't ok. People should have more respect than that. The number of capitol ships in liberty is beyond that of anywhere else in sirius, it's utterly unrealistic in terms of roleplay, and often causes real issues, making whole groups of unlawful players unable to operate as well as making the [LN] faction largely redundant, simply due to the extraordinary numbers of LNS caps floating around. I don't like to see Manhattan space used as a parking lot. People just siting there with little or nothing to do... It's bad RP. This measure was largely taken in order to make the game more fun for unlawful players, who of late have been complaining of massive overkill, and kill-whoring from many players on the lawfl side in liberty. I don't take this decision lightly, and it hurts me rather a lot to think that I am the cause of restriction on other peoples roleplay, however I am so tired of seeing unlawful players being unable to act as they should do, it makes me sick. Now I am going to be introducing a sceme whereby people can get themselves a cap should they show responsibility in their actions, and decent roleplay. A function and purpose for the ship, other than simply to just pew pew on the pirates. That said it was a group decision, made by the whole LN admiralty, that being Myself, Titan, Vincent, and Severe Trinity. It was completely unanimous and I volunteered to make the post. I don't like to think that I am in any way superiour to other people in roleplay, or that I am suitable as a judge for it, however I also see a real problem, and no-one else willing to take it on. I know I'm going to catch a lot of flak for this, but please don't think I am doing it out of spite for other people, or to 'beat down on the indies'. It's not about that. It is simply to try to curb the cap-spam that I see so regularly, that makes other people have a crap time. I have often felt guilty about the state of liberty's lawfuls and I thought something needed to be done. Ironically however, the solution also makes me feel pretty bad as well. Whether this is the right thing or not, only time will tell. If it doesn't work then I'm willing to try another approach, perhaps one with a totally different emphasis. I am taking my lead on this from the RM, as they don't have the issues that liberty has, they may have other issues, but they're different ones. Besides, this will only be in effect until the next version of the mod. I am hoping that the new ID system will sort the problem, and people will e able to operate properly in liberty. From both my lawful's perpective and my unlawful perpective fewer cap vessels can only be a good thing. Please comment on this here rather than in the thread in which I issue the order, as I'd like to that stay clean if possible. In the immortal words of Dusty Lens... *places pie in thread and waits 30 minutes* edit: I just want to add to this, that if it doesn't work then I'm not afraid to say I was wrong. Regarding the restriction on Liberty caps - Boss - 11-09-2008 Exemption list missed Xing and Stew. Also, I assume this only applies (RP-wise) to Navy affiliated craft, and not to, say, the Tundra. Regarding the restriction on Liberty caps - Jihadjoe - 11-09-2008 That's right Boss, only liberty friendly affiliated vessels are subject to it. And Xing has moved Isabelle to kusari now I believe. Regarding the restriction on Liberty caps - kingvaillant - 11-09-2008 Mind to warn people, as one of the leaders of the LSF, I support the following measures, Same will be applied to any non =LSF= flying something bigger than a GB without proper RP. Regarding the restriction on Liberty caps - kindred - 11-09-2008 The LNS-Massachusetts Gunboat Class Navy vessel and the LNS-Wisconsin BattleCruiser Class Navy vessel are loyal to Liberty and have pony rides onboard. Regarding the restriction on Liberty caps - Markus_Janus - 11-09-2008 Just a couple of quick questions for you. Are the LN going to give up on cap ships or just limit those not under their faction? Is there a buy back scheme or are you going to PVP people out of the ships they have purchased? Regarding the restriction on Liberty caps - Jihadjoe - 11-09-2008 Kindred, if I can see the RP for those you may well be added to the list of people who are just fine by us. I haven't seen any of the behaviour I am talking about from those ships, and therefore they can be added to the 'ok' list. Regarding the restriction on Liberty caps - SevereTrinity - 11-09-2008 Removed Regarding the restriction on Liberty caps - Eppy - 11-09-2008 Liberty Navy, welcome to hell.:) In other news, there's a surprisingly small number of complaints so far. Can it be that people have realized that blatant reactionary deregulation isn't as great an idea as they thought...? No, it can't be... Regarding the restriction on Liberty caps - Titan - 11-09-2008 I think people have realized we've tried to do every other possible measure to prevent this from happening, this has been an ongoing discussion between the LSF and LN for 4-5 months. And after we've exhausted all other options this had to happen. And yes, people do know how much problems it causes so no complaints so far, but we're not foolish enough to believe there wont be any at all:P |
