Will we need a 'Bounty Directory'? - Fletcher - 11-10-2008

Now with the new Iron Fist of the Admins coming down to clamp down on the PvP abuse by Mercenaries, Freelancer and Bounty Hunters, we need to post a thread in the Employment Forum so we can have RP justification in attacking the Bounty targets.

I am calling for a thread that contains many bounties from all across Sirius, so we can all look in one thread and see who is up on the Bounty List.

Here is my proposed layout:

Proposed Sirius Bounty List v0.1 Wrote:
  • Bounty Target/s
  • <Insert Name/s - ship classification would be handy>

  • Employer/s
  • <Insert Name/s (Forum name may be best)>

  • Bounty Reward
  • <Insert Reward - Be it credits or equipment>

  • Special Conditions
  • <Insert special conditions, e.g. only Mercenaries may attack, or can be destroyed X times for more reward>

  • Bounty Expiration date (if any)
  • <Insert termination date>

  • Is Bounty active?
  • This part is for reference, so admins may have proof in future. Not only that it would be faster to go through the list and see if Bounty is live or not

That is the list that I can draft up at the moment. I DO realize that roleplay would be conflicting with this idea. Like unlawfuls can't post bounties on the lawful boards, and vice versa, and cannot see each others bounties.

But I argue that we will need to prepare for the vast amounts of bounties that will come with the new admin rule of anti-bounty-pvp-abuse.

You are all welcome to critisize and make suggestions. This is for the help of the community!! Not only that the admins... Think about it, a directory of all bounties? Speed up!!

BBCODE for the draft:
Code:
[list][*][b][size=2]Bounty Target/s[/b][/size]
[*][i] <Insert Name/s - ship classification would be handy>[/i]

[*][b][size=2]Employer/s[/b][/size]
[*][i]<Insert Name/s (Forum name may be best)>[/i]

[*][b][size=2]Bounty Reward[/b][/size]
[*][i]<Insert Reward - Be it credits or equipment>[/i]

[*][b][size=2]Special Conditions[/b][/size]
[*][i]<Insert special conditions, e.g. only Mercenaries may attack, or can be destroyed X times for more reward>[/i]

[*][b][i]Bounty Expiration date (if any)[/b][/i]
[*][i]<Insert termination date>[/i]

[*][b][size=3]Is Bounty active?[/b][/size]

sounds fine to me, I'm just curious how this will effect mercenaries, who arent necessarily on bounties but are hired in-game to help out with something.

If I make a mercenary and someone hires me as an escort, I'd better not get sanctioned for shooting pirates =P

Likewise, if I'm hanging out around, say, new berlin, and the RM asks for some help taking out the wild, I'd better not be sanctioned for that either.

Id say its a good idea, but maybe it should be devided into the parts of Sirius.

Liberty
Rheinland
Bretionia
Kusari
Borderworlds.

Good point, and I agree with it.

Hmm, say, maybe the employer should add specifics of the target, ship, zone it was last seen or such?

(just brainstorming while doing homework heh)

hasn 't there been SEVERAL attempts at this? go check out the employment office, there's several threads about different sectors and their bounty boards.

I really like the idea, it's a pain to find all the different bounties available in Sirius...but it's also the maintainance of those bounties that's difficult. The expiration date might help though.

I'd like to maybe see Interspace set up bounty boards on it's stations (waterloo, trenton, roppongi, bonn) in the forums, and another one perhaps by zoners in the borderworlds. as for unlawfuls, maybe corsair (crete), Outcast (malta), and junkers for everyone not affiliated with either of these two pirate groups.

a good start fletcher, a very good start.

$.02

Hmm, yeah could do. We could add that into the Bounty Name section, I could expand it into Bounty Target Details so we can input more information about it.

EDIT:

There have been other attempts? Sorry I never noticed.

Now, we are going to see different factions and affiliations. How about the factions follow something along this template, but there will be a pinned thread to point you in the direction of each faction bounty board?

E.g:
Link to Liberty Lawful board...
Link to Crete Forces board...
Etc etc...

I think that could be doable. But we do need to somehow think of helping the admins, after all they are volunteers in this... Any help should be granted to them.

As far as i heared, corsairs dont take lightly to freelancers or mercinaries so...Crete *shrug*

I think we can agree that a 'universal' Bounty Board wouldn't be too effective. And as cmfalconer says, we need appropriate boards for a specific faction, or a group of factions. E.g. House of Liberty Wanted List, or Enemies of Crete Forces Bounty List.

Maintenance is always going to be an issue. So for the affiliation boards, I would nominate faction leaders or a designated person to gain 'moderatorship' of that thread only if somehow possible. Or if the thread creator is an active person.

So we could have the 'The Sirius Bounty Directory' pinned thread have the following:

Directory 1st Draft Wrote:The links provided shall take you to a faction specific Bounty Board.

  • House of Liberty Bounty Board - For Bounty Hunters and Freelancers
  • House of Bretonia Bounty Board - For Bounty Hunters and Freelancers
  • Crete Forces and Allies Board - For Corsairs, and allies
  • The Brotherhood Bounty Board - For faction and allies
  • The Mercenary Guns for Hire Board - For all Mercenaries
  • Freelancer dash Alpha Bounties - Freelancers only

Those in the list are just examples and may or may not exist, I just plucked them out of the air. But I think you can get a picture of what I am trying to put forward here. I know factions have their own bounties in their own web forums, or in our forums. So they would have the authority in the board of their faction.

--------------

Another thing just crossed my mind. When people post the bounty in the appropriate board (if it turns into many), they should edit in if the bounty has been completed or the target conditions have changed. E.g. Contract to kill ..... five times. He has been killed 3 times so far.

Another problem is how the Bounty Hunter, Freelancer or Mercenary inform the contractor that they have completed the bounty. That may be an issue since timezones and activity may be an issue. I could just be paranoid.

Anyway. Keep the feedback coming!

Well, Athenian has been doing a ton of work on this, especially since he's the head of the S/D, and we are, after all, bounty hunters. If you happen to check, we've got links to the Liberty Board, the Bretonian Board, and several of the commercial boards.

When I'm out hunting, I keep a screen open with all the bounties, and I've a spreadsheet available as well. Of course, with the ease of the name change now, a lot of the older bounties are moot points - that's why many of us tend to just use the generic bounties against the criminals.
