2 ideas to devs regarding racing / intercepting for Light Fighters - nOmnomnOm - 03-01-2016 I hope you remember before I was talking about using fuel like Nos to boost your ship forwards for a short time. Well I have a quick idea that might work out and be easy? When you are flying the Light Fighter how about making a /boost command. That command will check if you have a type of fuel on your ship or some batteries. Preferably batteries since some LFs have larger cargo than others. They will then go cruise faster for a certain amount of seconds and then go into cool-down. Maybe 2-5 mins? Maybe 5 mins is too much. Oh yeah and you will have to be already in cruise to use it. So this has obvious applications in racing RP but also for intercepting. Another idea I had just now is to expand upon a 'feature' in the game. For those of you who don't know, when you cruise in a light fighter you actually go 424 and not 425. To get that one extra tick of speed you have to align your mouse cruiser accordingly and straif accordingly too. Is it possible to capitalize on this thing and make it not 1 tick but 11 ticks? So that if you do that you are going now 435? This will make it more better especially if you are racing in rings and doing turns back from left to right. The boosts will actually mean something more than just a slight difference. Those are my two ideas. Are they impossible to add into the game? Are they good? RE: 2 ideas to devs regarding racing / intercepting for Light Fighters - 7AlphaOne1 - 03-01-2016 +1 on the 11 ticks Idea, tho I am not sure of the Nos one. A suggestion for the Nos one could be a change in the cargo spacing on different ships according to their role as genuine light Fighters, Racers/interceptors, Scouts etc. Like: Fighters: Slightly decreased cargo hold, slightly better powercore Scouts/Normal LFs/Miners:Normal, balance between the two. R/Is: Slightly increased Cargo hold, smaller powercore /reduced weapon slots( like the Arrow. Is that even a thing now? I dunno, gone too long). This would introduce specialization, allowing for more room to customize , as well as greater usage of different ships, as opposed to using certain ships and abandoning others. Discuss. RE: 2 ideas to devs regarding racing / intercepting for Light Fighters - nOmnomnOm - 03-01-2016 Or just add something in the ammo slot of ships and not in the cargo slot so that you don't have to edit every single light fighter just because of a boost problem. Yeah, but I would like to see different ammo capacities added to different LFs. Would add a bit of specialization and uniqueness to each ship. RE: 2 ideas to devs regarding racing / intercepting for Light Fighters - 7AlphaOne1 - 03-01-2016 Also, does the Arrow still exist? Sorry for stupid second reply RE: 2 ideas to devs regarding racing / intercepting for Light Fighters - Durandal - 03-01-2016 You'd need to add a huge amount of strafe force to make that positioning matter. It's an interesting idea, but the ship would have to be totally gunless. As someone who flies them a lot, I can confirm they are quite unique individually. Ammo shouldn't be a thing that should differentiated between light fighters. Races for example would get broken if that happens. ![]() Yes... it exists... or else I would be raging. Lol. But why do guns matter when you are talking about this though? O.o RE: 2 ideas to devs regarding racing / intercepting for Light Fighters - Xenon - 03-01-2016 (03-01-2016, 03:36 PM)Durandal Wrote: You'd need to add a huge amount of strafe force to make that positioning matter. Nice idea OP and +1 there too RE: 2 ideas to devs regarding racing / intercepting for Light Fighters - Lennox - 03-01-2016 (03-01-2016, 03:40 PM)nOmnomnOm Wrote:(03-01-2016, 03:36 PM)Durandal Wrote: You'd need to add a huge amount of strafe force to make that positioning matter. It's an interesting idea, but the ship would have to be totally gunless. Because if you increase the strafe force it would make you impossible to hit in PvP since fighter guns aren't fast enough to compensate for such a quick burst of speed. People could use that to their advantage, so allowing no weapons compensates for that. I'm kinda a fan of boost abilities when in cruise in general. Though, rather than increasing it to something like 435, I was rather thinking of something much higher, but also lesser uptime. Say, get like 500 m/s for three or four seconds and put them on like a one minute cooldown? Speed as it is atm is very static, thus I wouldn't mind if there were some additions that could make it more interesting. |
