Inrp scamming, admin discussion requested - Impyness - 03-29-2016

Really looking for admin opinion / discussion on this one. This is being brought up for NO particular reason, but I've noticed that there's no actual clear statement regarding inrp scamming in any of its forms. This means scamming in any of its forms, meaning if I send a transmission to Interspace asking for a loan, only to run off with it to accepting credits for a ship in game and never delivering.

The only real two things I can find relating to it are here where it specifies that scamming is only disallowed through the marketplace, and here, which even though isn't posted in green is made by (as far as I know) an admin of the time stating that you are allowed to roleplay as a scammer. Both of these things seem to suggest that doing so inrp is acceptable.

With that said and since it isn't expressly prohibited, I'd like an admin statement and further addition to the rules regarding this.

Please note the poll, votes are anonymous.

Posting asking for a loan and then not paying it back should be dealt with by a sanction.

Pirating someone and agreeing to not pirate them on their next run, then reneging on said deal, should be viewed as legitimate by the rules.

Not paying back a loan used to be sanctionable, then they removed the rule telling people to research the person before agreeing. But I still see sanctions pop up for unpaid loans, so I don't know what the official stance is anymore.

This... is actually a pretty good question.

@Mephistoles Actually, that would be pretty good idea for roleplay, because if I could scam the Interspace (which is the only loan company in entire Sirius), I'd like to roleplay such a guy which runs away from Bounty Hunters sent by IC.

That would be pretty bad "roleplay" and more an excuse to steal money. Should be sanctionable.

Not, if both players agreed on that, mind you. Taking away money in order to simply steal it ooRPly would be actually bad.

I asked a long time ago. I think the verdict was this:
If both parties come out of it accepting everything that happened and being ok with it, then it's fine. If the player who was scammed, even though it was inRP, doesn't like the outcome ooRPly then the scammer might face consequences.

If a person plans such a thing which involves stealing of such a huge amount of money I would only accept that if I were asked beforehand. Just because making so much money takes so long. If you conn me out of 5 mil I won't care but loans aren't starting below 100 and are usually way higher.

A scam that happens inRP should not be sanctionable. If it is, we should seriously reconsider the standards we are trying to set here.

But we have to keep it in some boundaries. Like we have piracy limited. But other than that I share that sentiment.
