Your interpretation of a residential unit/home in freelancer - nOmnomnOm - 04-05-2016

Since I will be working on a FL project after 2 weeks time, I want to start gathering some community impute again.

Down bellow I would like to ask... or rather give the opportunity... for people to post pictures of what they think living in space on a space station would look like.

This information will be used as examples for my own base design later.
You might remember that I had started working on it. I had to do other things and I left it till the next summer to start again.

I'll be basically starting over mostly. i got some better ideas. But I still would like to get some other people's idea on stuff.

So yeah... dont post stations. Post perhaps interior pictures. Big Grin

Well, I guess it changes from station to station.

Lower quality/ Work centric / Low peasant space station quarters would be minimal and slightly functional. I would say akin to submarine sleeping bunks.

Stations who serve as trade depots, minimalist research stations, and other small scale stations with built in living quarters, probably would have lower density rooms, or sleeping capsules.

Upper scale trading centres, Military outposts, corporate headquarters and tourist focused stations would have obviously higher quality rooms and such.

Remember, in space, space is a premium, and comfort might not be the first priority when designing a space station on a budget.

I think this is too broad to actually discuss it. Every station might have different outdoors, as well as planets themselves - not to mention pocket's size of questioned guy. Obviously, the military vessels (unless these might be representative units designed to the custom wishes) are not offering much room. But the privately-owned vessels? All to your imagination.

If someone's a bit richer Kusarian, he or she could fill whole room of his with LCD panels and put a Japanese Garden visuals in there - or take more traditional approach and make a truly minimalist styled cabin, which looks like a small daimyo castle's interior.

I always (jokingly) assumed that Bretonian vessels have at least one tea cup per each cabin, with obligatory Tea supply - the captain's cabin being the most exclusively furnished in Victorian-like style.

As for Liberty vessels, it's safe to assume that every Liberty Navy's vessel up from Gunboat has a room dedicated for playing Texas Hold'em or Black Jack. Wink

Toris this isn't about lore of who has what.

Just use your imagination and pick some pictures you think would represent living in space.

For some reason I've always pictured homes in FL universe to be something out of a distopian future. Look up stuff like "scifi ghetto" on google images, you get the deal.
