No Man's Sky - Arioch - 04-19-2016 Been following game this for some time now, and while the hype-train is high, I for one am excited about checking it out. For the lazy:
Video showing take off from Planet and entry into another planet (Skip to 1:17). http://www.no-mans-sky.com/about/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Man%27s_Sky RE: No Man's Sky - Ergo - 04-19-2016 Procedural graphics was great back in the 1980s, I hope they will get it right. RE: No Man's Sky - Lythrilux - 04-19-2016 It looks fun, however there's no story or missions of any kind. Nothing that links it to the FL experience at least, beyond exploring. It worries me that in a preview someone said that the game would take "a weekend to 'complete'". Considering it's like £60 (No Man's Buy) to buy or something that doesn't fill me with a lot of faith. Personally though, I'd love a Skyrim experience in space. If they made missions of some kind or a story even as DLC that'd make me get hyped for it. It'll be cool if there's modding support for PC too. RE: No Man's Sky - Stefz - 04-19-2016 The last time I was this hyped for a game, it ended up being a huge disappointment. Hopefully that won't be the case here. RE: No Man's Sky - Swallow - 04-19-2016 Personally, it'd be great in a form of a rogue-like. Say, like ASCII sector and Cataclysm DDA, and DF, obviously. RE: No Man's Sky - Papa Oomaumau - 04-27-2016 A week to complete, Lyth? Where did you get that? The idea of a procedurally generated universe is that it would take billions of years to see the whole thing. If you're buying this game to get the best ship/levels/upgrades - this is probably the wrong game for you, as it's the opposite of 'the point'. I'm with you McCool - and I'll fly with you too (if we can ever meet up, from reviews that seems near impossible) once the game launches. Cause I have a job and I crap out $60 dinners twice a week - I can blow that much on a game. RE: No Man's Sky - Lythrilux - 04-27-2016 I dunno, I'm the kind of person that needs a game with substance. Clear objectives for the player. I can play games without a story mode (i.e the brilliant Monster Hunter franchise) but generally I like to feel that each of my actions has some sort of direction attatched to them. In the case of NMS, aimless exploration could grow stale after a while. |
