Official Factions and /nodock - Antonio - 04-25-2016 We had a brief discussion on TS yesterday, and it's about the current /nodock feature. For those of you who don't know what /nodock is, it's a server command that can be used only by the official house police factions (LPI, KSP, BPA, RFP) which works by selecting a ship, typing /nodock and removing him docking access to all lawful bases in that house for 2 minutes. It's mostly used for catching smugglers, but can also be useful when someone is breaking the house law in general, or if a pirate is trying to dock on a neutral base, like Bethlehem in Pennsylvania or Cardiff in Cambridge.
My suggestion is simple - allow all official factions to use /nodock on stations that have the same IFF as the faction in question. For example, a GMG ship catches a Freelancer IDed Artifact smuggler near Naha. He cds him and tells him to stop, but the smuggler ignores him, docks on Naha and logs off. The GMG ship has to bother with taking screenshots and filing a sanction / FR5, and the whole roleplay scenario is runed. Alternatively, he can /nodock the smuggler and force him to stay there and roleplay the situation, directly creating player interaction. Another example would be Zoners enforcing their no fire zone rule. If someone breaks it in their presence and starts shooting other people, he can get /nodocked from Freeports. There are many more examples, all of which lead to the same thing - the problematic ships in question ignore the warning/demand from the faction, dock and log off. Instead, if the factions could nodock people, those people would be forced to stay and roleplay their way out, encouraging interaction between players. Plus it'd reduce the amount of paperwork needed to get done. Abusing it would not be possible because it'd only be restricted for official factions for starters, but could be changed later, depending on how it turns out. Thoughts? Adding poll soon. tl;dr read the underlined sentence. This is a perfect hypothetical that illustrates greatly why this should be a thing. RE: Official Factions and /nodock - Omi - 04-25-2016 Continue to withhold it from Navy factions even GRN, otherwise supported. Police IDs need the perk, IMO. RE: Official Factions and /nodock - Jayce - 04-25-2016 Oh. You mean like the Zoner Pirate Train hauling Cardamine through Ellesmere I caught this weekend, who promptly docked on Alert Station while being shot at by my LSF? Yes. Yes. And yes. (Still waiting to see that sanction pop up. [Oh wait, there it is!]) RE: Official Factions and /nodock - Hannibal - 04-25-2016 (04-25-2016, 06:22 PM)Omicega Wrote: Continue to withhold it from Navy factions even GRN, otherwise supported. Aren't Navy faction bases mainly just Battleships and maybe some Shipyards in core systems? RE: Official Factions and /nodock - Wesker - 04-25-2016 Yes I don't want to see SRP Liberty battleships dock on MY bases in omega47 to restock and re-engage RHA and SCRA RE: Official Factions and /nodock - Jeremy Hunter - 04-25-2016 (04-25-2016, 06:27 PM)Bloodl1ke Wrote:Pretty much, Blood. The Navy doesn't need /nodock as all navies have the Police.(04-25-2016, 06:22 PM)Omicega Wrote: Continue to withhold it from Navy factions even GRN, otherwise supported.
