Wouldn't it be better if level would be applied for time existing on server? I mean the character itself. Now, would that apply to your name and stick to it or whenever when you would restart char or delete it, and create it with same name, it would reset, that's what I do not know (depends if that is possible in any kind of those ways).

It would basically prevent metagaming. Of course, when for example someone who can pirate, spots someone with non capital name and big level (etc MNS, CNS, OCV) he goes there to check out and voila, there's interaction, depending on who that actualy is.

Still, that doesen't means that it would stop any kind of interraction. Let's say that it could possibly become more unpredictable, as you shouldn't even know if that's transport or anything else based on player list.

Though, I wouldn't touch ability to see character name in player list. That is totally fine.

What would also be benefit out of it is to show how much character is old and therefore, how much that character means for someone. For example, I have Jared Nomak since 2010.

If you mean on the option I'm speaking about unfortunately, no. I have no experience on coding or modding games except, to copy- paste files. I'm just musician. :/

Though, good idea, no? I don't know if it is possible.

edit: Currently, the level is based on the ammount of credits you have + vessel which is in my opinion non sense. I don't say Freelancer is lame or something, I think it wasn't polished enough (base platform). I was thinking if we could use existing elements to actually serve for something with sense.

I guess I figured that out pretty fast. In my opinion whether an idea is good or bad holds little relevance if it is unlikely to be realized.

Would it be realized or not, depends completely on Administrators/Developers. I expressed my opinion on what could be effect of such change so it's up to them to see if that benefits them/server/gameplay.

If I could, I would try to code it and see if it is working.

AFAIK its hard coded into the game. So unless we have the original source code, we cant do anything about it
