Cooperative Killing- Starting to bug me. - Zygoeths - 11-23-2008 Has anyone been in liberty, and are a hostile? Then you do the usual chase all over the place yelling things at each other, and either A) You escape B) You get caught C) You kill the chasers. When B happens, I usually cooperate, yet it seems everytime I do cooperate, I get killed? This doesn't make much sense in my eyes, It's like someone killing a thief who is on the carhood of a cop car who is waiting to be cuffed. It also seems a bit OORP, since I don't think the police want to kill EVERYONE, nor the navy. Any thoughts or Concerns on the matter? EDIT: The question above with has anyone been in liberty is a retorical question.. Cooperative Killing- Starting to bug me. - Boss - 11-23-2008 It's true. If I see you, I'll keep that in mind, mmk? Cooperative Killing- Starting to bug me. - Zygoeths - 11-23-2008 You've seen me killed or you've been in this position before? Cooperative Killing- Starting to bug me. - Boss - 11-23-2008 The latter. AFAIK, I've never run into you on any characters. Cooperative Killing- Starting to bug me. - Emon - 11-23-2008 The problem is theres no way to make an arrest. Sure, the police could bring you to a prison station, but that station is going to be hostile to you and youll be unable to dock, hence no arrest. At that point, the arresting officer would have to just let you go. Blowing a ship up is the only way supported by game mechanics to stop a criminal. I'm not saying that killing a surrendered criminal is good RP, but theres very few viable alternatives. Cooperative Killing- Starting to bug me. - DragonLancer - 11-23-2008 If your surrender your ship will be grounded or worse and you will put into prison or worse. As long as you do not wanna roleplay as prisoner you should not consider surrender. That's how my role-play would be. Cooperative Killing- Starting to bug me. - centauri5pirate - 11-23-2008 How about this? You get caught, escorted to a prison station (just outside the range of their guns), and you are told to F1 that character? I know F1 is a HUGE no-no, but in this case it would seem the best option to do. You can log in then under a different character or wait the 4 hours as per the kill rule. That would make it seem as if you were captured and unable to access that char for a while, putting him out of the action. It would be up to the arresting officer to tell you to F1 (call it booking the prisoner, or something like that). Thoughts, comments? Cooperative Killing- Starting to bug me. - Darkard - 11-23-2008 Or give Prison Stations a mooring fixture thats part of the nutural faction, It will dock you on a dummy station with no services (Or atleast no bar and nothing to buy). You can RP out of that station. Altho there is no way to make people stay docked, but to be honest the only people likly to let themselfs be captured and dock are people who will RP anyway. Others will just fight to the death. Would be cool to get allies to come bust you out tho. In an ideal game you would be able to be reformed criminal, and there would be a "reset Rep" bribe on the station and a StarFlier available to buy. But yeah, wishfull thininking heh. Cooperative Killing- Starting to bug me. - Walker - 11-24-2008 If you where The_HomoFictus then that was an accident... I was getting pretty bad lag at the time and your message didnt appear til... After. Cooperative Killing- Starting to bug me. - Chico - 11-24-2008 A long time ago, I had an interesting run in with an LSF pilot. He caught me (I had to stop because of RL but promised I would return ASAP). He sat outside my smuggler and waited. I returned shortly and asked what we could do. He said "Destroy the cargo and pay a $2 mill fine". Ouch! I was also escorted out of the system the way I came in. I thought that was bloody good RP. He could have killed me when I left the ship sitting there, so Kudos to you sir. (I can't remember, LSF Fluid or Liquid). I paid because I thought it seemed the best thing to do. He can't 'arrest' me and killing me would probably have been better, I would have returned to the last base I was at and it's cheaper. But the inconvenience he caused me was the worst thing he could have done. Well done to you sir. Just don't get to over the top with fines, your supposed to be the good guys. $2 mill for an adv train may seem a little steep but the encounter was good spirited and I don't think it was unreasonable. I was also sent away with the feeling that if he had seen me again that day, I wouldn't be so well recieved. |
