2x launcher, 2x ammo - Petitioner - 06-01-2016

So a while back, it was made so that if you're using /autobuy and have two Hellfire launchers, it'll buy a full stack of ammo for each of them, doubling your ammo capacity. As I understand it, this was done on a trial basis, but has been kept since then without official word on whether or not this would permanently remain as a feature, but I might've missed something in this regard.

So that being said, why is it limited to only Hellfires? Why not, say, Stalker missiles, or Novas/Incapacitators? Is it balance issues, lack of interest/utility, some sort of coding issue, or just because it's a low priority?

I think extending the "one stack of ammo via /autobuy, per launcher" feature that Hellfires currently have to other types of missiles and torpedoes would be a good way to encourage more diverse loadouts than "flashpoints/PGs and debs", which is what 85% of all VHFs I encounter use (or either one of "snac/cd"~"nova/cd", in the case of bombers).

Two reasons.

1: There are very few cases in which those launchers are used more than one at a time.
2: Their current ammo capacity isn't balanced for such.

I think the only other use of the feature you'll see in the near future is for cap missiles.

Cap missiles are something that I meant to mention as well, but it slipped my mind.

As far as I know it was some hook stuff which got reverted quite shortly after the beginning of the trial. Now their ammo count and damage output is doubled since bombers are limited to two Hellfire Rocket Pods per ship. At least that's what I heard/saw, but haven't tried it out yet.

Nope, I have at least four bombers with 2x Hellfire launchers, /autobuy all on, and 240 hellfire ammo, so it's still a thing.

It's mostly because of balance. For snubs, the current ammo per launcher would have to be reduced first, and even then a case-by-case approach would have to be done to ensure something's not broken.

As for capital missiles, it probably should be added. They have powercore consumption and heavy turret limitations already, and if anything it'd be a buff to factions that have access only to basic missiles (ex. Corsairs, Outcasts) and want to use the double missile loadout.

Does it still say in green that it detected 2 Hellfire launchers, therefor you get double the ammo? If not, it's not "still a thing", it's "a thing again", via rebalance this time, not hook.

Well, I just want to say that if we do this then we increase amount of CMs without making double launcher, because 120-170 CMs won't be fairly enough anymore.

Yes, it does say this. Am I really the only one who uses double hellfires...?
