Increasing Cruise speed on battleships and carriers - Commander ZooM - 06-13-2016 I think it would be great idea to remove docking ability into trade lanes for battleship and carrier class ships and instead increase there cruise speed to 1200, second would be to increase there top impulse speed from 89 to 100, thoughts ideas and everything welcome below id like to know peoples thoughts on weather this is a good idea or a bad one or if this has been on the discussion board before RE: Increasing Cruise speed on battleships and carriers - Petitioner - 06-13-2016 I don't want to see LolNS battleships catching up to my light fighter and blasting me while I'm still in cruise, sorry. Also, you realize that 1200 is faster than trade lane speed, right? RE: Increasing Cruise speed on battleships and carriers - SnakeLancerHaven - 06-13-2016 lol you want that Cruisers die quickly with this? Cruiser/Destroyers already have trouble when Caps cruise up to them, now with this speed there's no chance to fight back. Er, isn't tradelane speed 1000? I always thought it was, anyway. RE: Increasing Cruise speed on battleships and carriers - sindroms - 06-13-2016 You meant to say decrease, right? Seeing how FLCompanion is set to 1900 average speed for lanes (and it has to account in for acceleration and deceleration), my guess would be at least 2k, though it may be even 2250 or 2500.
EDIT: Yes, Spazzy, decrease cruise to 1200 and impulse to 100. RE: Increasing Cruise speed on battleships and carriers - Commander ZooM - 06-13-2016 first cruise speed on a battleship is 350, but for alot of battleships docking in a trade lane is very hard, hence why i thought removing docking into trade lanes all together and increasing there cruise speed to 1200 or even 1000 so they can just fly through a system instead of trying to take trade lanes, second increase there impulse speed to 100 so they have a chance against battle cruisers who can use thrust to stay just out of range, third and in reply to an above message, a battleship could not cruise upto anything and just blow it up, the energy regen time is 45 seconds min before it starts, at least in my BS anyway so that would give any fighter or bomber still in cruise more then enough time to get away with out any fair of being blown up RE: Increasing Cruise speed on battleships and carriers - Misfit - 06-13-2016 Tradelane speed is 2500. You used to be able to see your speed while in a tradelane in an old version of disco I believe. No, that's only if they use the strafing bug, and if they do and they manage to catch up to you it means you were flying in a straight line and weren't paying attention. If they cruise up to you normally their powercore won't regen in time and you'll be out of range safely. However I do agree that the idea is just plain bad, capital vessels cruise fast enough already, and that's only for ooRP reasons of cutting the travel time in caps. Otherwise inRP I don't think they'd even have cruise engines, and if they did they wouldn't go over 200. Gameplay and balance come over RP though, which is how it should be. |
