What can an Aussie Do? - Rayul - 12-01-2008 Hey guys, i never get below 420ms and its impossible to win PVP... what can i do? I don't wanna stop playing with you guys but i don't know what else to do? What can an Aussie Do? - Ximen_Benitez - 12-01-2008 Well, I'm no ping expert, but from experience the game seems to run better when there is nothing running in the background. Also scan for virus/spyware because those can take bandwidth sometimes. Those are just the basic things though, I'm not sure what else can be done. What can an Aussie Do? - JakeSG - 12-01-2008 No, as I believe I have heard somebody say before, it's more the eternal struggle against the speed of light. The lag seems to fluctuate a lot in Australia. Sometimes it's decent enough, although it messes with your aim, others it's perfect, but then ten minutes later it'll take three minutes for your text to appear. Less players/NPC's in a fight seems to help. Can try killing bandwidth consuming processes. Apart from that all I can really think of is practicing and praying, or only getting into a pvp fight with us other Australians so that they have similar problems. What can an Aussie Do? - Lux - 12-01-2008 What Jake said. Try closing any apps that are running in the background that require a continuous connection to the internet, like anything you're downloading or other things like that. Otherwise, it sucks, but most people outside of Europe (myself included) get high ping and very hard fights due to this, since the server is in Prague if I'm not mistaken. Just try to work through the lag:) What can an Aussie Do? - chovynz - 12-01-2008 Try to avoid PVP and you'll be fine. You can still enjoy the server Rping. Become sneaky so that you avoid fights. And when you feel the PVP urge, let out a bloodcurdling battlecry and charge someone, knowing that you will soon die to jerky ships and you will be rewarded with a nice big yellow explosion. Do you like my bell curve formatting? What can an Aussie Do? - El Nino - 12-02-2008 :DMY man you can Roleplay! Be a model citizen, hire escorts without lag, to do your bidding, be a mastermind, organizer,... you can do everything but PVP then this is the right place for you, as there are plenty of things that can be done... What can an Aussie Do? - Rayul - 12-02-2008 These are all awesome replies thanks heaps for all your advice... I have shutdown all other net accessing processes but today in a battle above manhatten i got as high as 570ms!:( I know I can roleplay heaps and i look forward to that but right now im with S/D & LPI which both get into fights alot. Can anyone recommend a heavy RP faction that doesn't PVP much (or can find ways around PVP)? Any pointers would be great! Ps. I did consider moving to Prague, i'm sure that would fix my ping!;) What can an Aussie Do? - Laowai - 12-02-2008 Lag lag up until recently the bane of my existance. Actually i hate to say it but compared to what i had in Beijing Australia is bliss.... I average here between 340 - 480 ping, but the lag is usually really low 0-2%... its going to depend on your connection obviously. I do know that Australia's broadband internet is pretty rubbish compared to the rest of the world - the government here is getting slammed over it and you only have to look at the amount of complaining business groups do about this topic to know that something is up. Minimise everything and dont run Skype or X-fire while you play - also, don't be on wireless.... ( i know its kind of obvious but still) Coping strategies in case none of the above help?: When i was in China i was happy if i had ping enough that let me type and occasionally shoot NPCs. But part of the reason i fly so many caps is because of the lag anything smaller was unusable. Concentrate on RP, make that your focus - be prepared to lose any pvp encounters you are going to get into and dont let it worry you, it can sometimes bruise your ego but why worry? its hard to defend yourself from someone thats downed half your shields before you have managed to see them! Develop your characters on the forums - i wrote a BUNCH of stuff on the forums when i was in china, for a while, the lag was so bad i couldnt actually connect, so i wrote things. Also - Trade: boring as.... but you can RP while you do it, you make money and at least you're in game... and you dont have to worry about pvp when you are doing that. Hope that helps, good luck with the lag demons! What can an Aussie Do? - 13CentKiller - 12-02-2008 ' Wrote:570ms!:(I have a 450 to 600 average. I'm still a crack nova shot, and a pretty good bomber. You just have to adapt to it. I live in New Zealand;) What can an Aussie Do? - pieguy259 - 12-02-2008 ' Wrote:These are all awesome replies thanks heaps for all your advice...
