Powergaming & permadeathing other peoples characters - hack - 12-02-2008

** Warning, the follwing is a rant. Don't be surprised half way thru. **

Well, lets see, I have read the server rules, I see that if I am defeated in battle that I must leave the system for 4 hours. Ok, Check.

Now, where in the server rules did I miss having someone perma-death my character without my say so?

That smacks of power gaming, pure and simple.

/rant off

Discussion please

/Rant back on

Edit: Oh, and when I try to rp my character trying to get away in a lifepod, get the life pod vapourized, and then told my rp sucks?

/rant to be continued

I was there for the first part of that. You might want to contact ScornStar and let him explain things to the other player.

No one can do anything to permanently affect your character without your prior permission. Insisting that they can isn't RPing, it's godmoding.

Ridiculous power-gaming. (At least others who insist on power-gaming, in other forms, are a tad more subtle.)

Ingame death is interesting, but only if agreed upon by both parties.

Bad form on unnamed fellow. Bad form indeed.

Indeed, a perma death should ONLY be allowed if both parties agree on it, otherwise its just abuse or "powergaming"

Especially when it's a cruiser vs. a light fighter.

Had it happen to me once. Glady, it was resolved.

But, I agree, bad form without consent. I mean, who are you to kill off someone's character, which he spent hours building a story from?

Exactly, lots of time and effort and poof, gone in an instant...

No one can kill anyone else's character unless they want, or have roleplayed the situation with the co-operation
of all players.
