Defense Field Equipment - Titan* - 08-24-2016
So Discovery have like 5 equipment. Cloak-Disruptor-JD-Matrix-Survey i don't know if there are more
How about a defense field equipment?
So Defense Field will work like POB Shield(not rreally), it will covers the ship inside of the shield and it will have 1K or 2K or 3K Field Range
Defense Field will have duration time 60 or 120 seconds and ships inside the Shield will take %75 less damage from hostile ships
Also it will affect hostile ships if they get inside the Defense Field
I think only carriers should have access to this equipment so they can support the friendly ships instead of attacking a battleship
If possible snubs shouldnt be affected by it because a snub with %5 hp can run into the defense field and not die for some time
or
Second idea;
A Defense Field Generator that deflects incoming torpedoes-missiles for 60 seconds
Good idea or not? Discuss.

I think it is actually a good idea of how to make carriers useful, and I think it should also affect snubs. The catch is that it has a limited duration and a long recharge. Also that it is not possible to code... or is it?

I think it is possible since pobs takes %97 less damage when shield is active i think it can be done for player ships too

I've asked in the past for something rather similiar and ppl said it isn't really possible to do something like this, as pob's shield visual effect is just an effect, it doesn't really have any square range or so.
So I doubt it's codeable

also totally reminds me of this
tbh carriers more of a support role but docking modules are still broken

While this sounds possible, I doubt that it will make people switch from Battleships and cruisers, and most carriers are giant targets regardless.
I personally would like to see this, and MAYBE a minor(absolutely tiny, like 1% oh hull) active repair of other ships, such as gunboat/freighter/snub while they in the field. This might come with the higher tiers of the defense shield and might will take the powercore of the carrier to do the repairs(like the actual repair ship, that NO ONE brings to battles because having shields down is murder.)

I'd really like to see carriers as a support ship out of the front lines, where snubs and bombers could rearm and repair without it counting as PvP kill. I guess that can't be untill the docking modules are fixed. This defense matrix might be a nice addition...

I think this would be better suited for repair ships. If you look at playing Fractured Space there is a ship there that repairs and can drop a field that is a defense bubble. It is about the size of a buoy in freelancer and you need to shoot it to disable it. Anything inside the bubble on your team is affected by the defense. Kinda like PoB sheild bubble.
