Need help with a problem concerning the Liberty-Rheinland trade embargo - jdftheman - 12-06-2008
Like the titel says, i have a problem with the embargo between Liberty and Rheinland. My trader has both tag and ID belonging to Interspace Commerce, and i usually fly between new berlin and cambridge.
Now about 15 minutes ago i was ordered to stop by a Rheinland police officer, who said that because i belong to a liberty company, i am not allowed to transport anything but passengers into rheinland. I have come accros alot of policemen in rheinland, but this was the first time ever that they made me stop for that
Now i am wondering, am i, as a member of interspace commerce, allowed to transport more than just passengers in rheinland, or is he right with stopping me?

Well, for 1 yeah the embargo is legally binding..
2- IC isn't a shipping company so they shouldn't ship stuff =p (Minor nitpick)

Interspace commerce is not a liberty organization, they're an insurance group that works for every house. They have bases in new york, new london, new berlin, and new tokyo.
The Rheinland guy was wrong in what he was doing, especially if you were not coming from or going to liberty.

Interspace Commerce (IC) is one of the "Big Three" Liberty companies and insures cargo carried within the colonies and into the Border Worlds.
that's the tag of interspace commerce, so now i have 2 extra questions:
1) Is IC a liberty company or not?
2) Is IC a shipping company or isn't it?

Oh I never noticed the between reinland and bretonia bit..
But yeah IC is a liberty corp, its one of the Big 3.

liberty corp or not, they have stations within every house, and npcs within every house. They insure cargo shipments from trading companies within every house.
Apparently, rheinland isnt concerned with insuring their cargo anymore, perhaps interspace should set up some sabotage for rheinland commerce eh?

So IC has stooped to the Mafia-esque insurance, where if you don't pay the protection money they make bad things happen to you? Yeah, that'd be good for business.
And there aren't any IC NPCs, so you know.
And the Rheinland guy was wrong. Trade between Bretonia and Rheinland has not been affected, and Liberty corporations are still allowed there, they're just watched very, very closely.

The IC stations in the other houses were built there to help with payment for the tradelanes/gates, which the other houses bought from liberty.
However, being that Discovery takes place quite a bit after sp, I'd say they have some sorta other reason for being there.

Erm - since all of AP Manufacturing ships are now IFF'd and ID'd with ICC - I think you ran into a confused cop. Especially since we've routes IN Rheinland space.
LIBERTY has an embargo that the only thing they'll let go through to Rheinland is people. (Soylent Green, obviously...) Rheinland in and of itself doesn't have the embargo on their side - they just watch and/or kick out Liberty ships.

I think the RM has decided to enforce the Embargo too, but I am not quite sure of it.
The embargo is mainly political and economical. Liberty's economy is stronger than Rhienland. The main purpose of the Embargo, in-RP is to cripple their economy even more.
We intended to organize events, to simulate an escalation of conflict, but we all lack time atm
