Since CR is not gonna get a redesign, I made a complete rebuilt of the Nyx just for fun. this time with less than 3000 polys

It looks great as I already told you, but maybe it could be a Super Heavy Fighter, or like a Avenger VHF Type Nyx which could be pretty cool.
Eros - Light Fighter
Nyx - Very Heavy Fighter (Guardian VHF LN)

Very VERY nice job on that.
Almost makes me want to play as a Colonial pilot... almost.
Also your attention to detail on in that cockpit is ridiculous, kudos to ya.

Looks like a pretty good model, but I would change up the textures on the engine exterior. Maybe add some parts that make it look like panels instead of very long strips, just do it doesn't look like a stretched texture

You are not alone.
Looks sweet, just fix those inverted faces inside the small arch in the cockpit, optimize the model (i.e. delete invisible geometry inside the ship) and some uv-stretching. Other than that, good job!
