Disco dramas and the future of disco - Kopesh - 11-13-2016 I believe this post has been due for a long time to remind you people of the reason we play here in the first place. It's because of the activity of the server. I have seen countless acts of destructive behaviour from several community members that were harmful towards the server activity.I won't be pointing fingers cause I don't want to. All I want to tell you is that most of us who play here play because of the activity on the server. And because of the huge complexity of the mod.Like really,it is THE BEST FL mod ever, and you cannot argue with this. I remember the times when the server was full of 200 people at the same time.Good times. How many people would have the motivation to keep playing if they saw disco 10/128 instead of 80/128 at prime time? Not many. Servers die. It's natural.People get bored with the game and leave. You cannot do anything to stop this. The only thing I HOPE to put an end to is the destructive behaviour of certain people that cause more and more people to leave everyday. To all of you who like to stir up drama and make people feel bad,I say this: Before you do it,remember of the adverse consequences it may have on the community as a whole, and the server wide activity, and remember that even though you might like to make people feel bad sometimes,I certainly know you would never like to log on and play on 0/128 discovery server. The server is slowly dying, the admins and developers are doing everything in their power to adress this. The only thing YOU,as a player, can do,is be mature and nice to everyone around you, even though you might not like certain people.Try to contribute to the community, make it a better place, where you could log after a full day of hard work and have fun for 1-2 hours, without trolling and childish behaviour. RE: Disco dramas and the future of disco - xiphos - 11-13-2016 I agree with you 100%. But to be honest. The peeps with the destructive behavior you are talking about are just not interessted to play fair. I guess you know that very well. They don't think about their actions and how they spoil the fun of others. And they laugh about a thread like this. They laugh about your opinion. And last but not least, they laugh about my opinion. I am ok with this. Problem is, others are maybe not and leave this server because they are not in the mood to argue with the 'problem kids'. And the Admins know them very well. Nothing happens anyways. RE: Disco dramas and the future of disco - Sombs - 11-13-2016 One reason for the non-stopping existance of drama is people always giving things names, and while one half can't stop causing drama, the other can't stop talking about the drama, constantly reminding people of it instead of just head their own business and focus on having fun on the server. This is just another thread. It's not the first one and not the last one, and it will result in absolutely no change of the behavior of people, as people want to profile with what they do. You see drama? Do yourself a favor and keep out of it, as any comment you will do will possibly cause a reaction. Just play the game, people.
RE: Disco dramas and the future of disco - sindroms - 11-13-2016 I'd like to see people taking their time to move around and spread over factions so that it does not become more of a gauge-fest than it is now. Otherwise we have 3-5 ''choice'' factions for a combination of PVP, RP and trade and people tend to develop cliques and grudges very quickly in that sort of environment. Especially the whole ''us vs them'' mentality. Though in the end, what we need is either new blood or at least to be knowing enough when to call to the discontinuation of the DiscoveryGC project so that it does not have enough time to degrade to a worst kind of state. Me included here as well. RE: Disco dramas and the future of disco - sindroms - 11-13-2016 I will give you events to take your mind off things. And spawn NPCs whenever you seem to be too relaxed. RE: Disco dramas and the future of disco - diamond1 - 11-13-2016 I'd have to agree. Being a liberty navy officer for a year, makes you really learn about the role players personality in a way. A week ago a freelancer came up and said how I wasn't as annoyed as the other liberty officers. Although this kind of behaviour might suit to roleplay, I've seen much better behaviour coming from unlawfuls. Although I am a little too nice and that's how people always get away from me as a smuggler or so, but this practically applies to all the regularity seen liberty officers I've seen. I'm not saying I haven't done wrong too, I've broken a few of the I'd rules by accident, and done so many rule breaks that I didn't even know could exist. but conflicts in and out is just rediculous what I'm most concerned about is the type of behaviour when almost everyone here is of adult stage and there is still fighting like children. I mean, come on. I'm glad roleplay is involved or it will get even uglier, and THAT is a FACT. Discovery is dying, can't we at least put it to rest with the roleplay of a lifetime that will live with us forever? If we are going out, we should do it with style RE: Disco dramas and the future of disco - Sombs - 11-13-2016 A good thing would be stopping with shouting around "DISCOVERY IS DYING!" - With more than houndred people logging to peak times during events and a whole bunch of people logging during their prime times in other time zones, Discovery is not dying. Yes, you all remember times with 200 people online and even I remember that I had problems with logging when I found discovery because all the slots were in use. Let's please not talk about it as if we're in the last months here. That's bull and causes only auto-suggestion. For a server of a game that is more than ten years old and uses a mod, 100 active players at once are something very unique. Especially on a roleplay server. |
