Jump Coordinate Service: Any Market? - Yeggito - 11-23-2016

Hi all,

I was curious if people would be willing to exchange credits for a set of Jumpdrive coordinates. For the basics on Jump Drives and their use, I believe this is the best source of information.

As Hyperspace Jump Drives are in circulation, but are a bit limited in capability (can only be used if the system is three (3) or four (4) jumps away, I was curious if such a market existed.

inRP, it would likely be handled by a rouge crewman aboard a vessel with a Hyperspace Survey Module, leaking details to whoever would pay for them.

The details would be good for 30 days, to an accuracy of ~15k from the survey site, and would require an inRP Comm to request.

Pricing is TBD; as the mkIII modules are pricey, I'm not sure if this is a very lucrative venture, but would give rise to some interesting RP.

Just a thought. Let me know what you think.

I believe the playerbase is using jumpdrives way too rarely to actually have that an option. Like, the only people I've ever seen jumpdrives in the recent months were AFC and every now and then an indi Outcast cap in Penny.

Yeah. I re-did the math, and the ship I had in mind (cruiser with 900 cargo) can't even run the mkII once (600 cargo + 600-800 "fuel commodity" for at least 1200) even if it was stripped bare.

I could make it work with a transport, but...that kind of kills the immersive factory. I was looking for some interesting addition to trawling around in a cruiser, but it doesn't look like this is an option.

You could try and SRP a fuel-less survey module, like IRG has a ship that has fuel-less jump drives. The Corvo really fits that job.

I also tried to make a jumping cruiser.

Jump drives aren't really used because they just can't be mounted by anything else than big caps. Wish my battlecruiser could jump.

Greetings,

since JD's can simple be deactivated by a single CD, there is not much use of them and this ofc leads to a small market. If you still are looking for someone who can make Coordinates, I have a Hyperspace Survey Module MK2. Just PM me if needed.

Regards

I just don't often fly battleships. If my cruiser could have mounted it on the same downsides as a battleship (less armor) then I'd gladly hop around a little more.

Appreciate the offer. I would love to Survey with the cruiser, but then SRPing, and then using those to make money, seems...a bit backhanded.

I'd still love to have it, and will entertain the SRP thought (as it fits in with the idea of the Order having rapid-response capabilities throughout Sirius), but it may then spawn a series of "if he/she has one, why can't I?".

Never SRP'ed, and would need a solid RP background to use as the request's foundation. Thanks for all the input!

There is nothing nearly as efficient as Ore trading. As long as that is the primary source of income, anything else you can do is just more as something to RP about.
