I remember there was an update that included large icons. This helped a lot with clicking and selecting as well as finding things on the maps.
Unfortunately, I do not see large icons on the maps in game any more?
Why have they been removed and can we have them back, please?

i can agree with this. you know how hard it is to select a base in the larger (read: Virginia) sectors?

It was done for gates and jump holes only, but extending it to stations should be simple enough.

How come? They're big for me. Maybe your eye got too used to the changes and you can't tell the difference anymore.

That's because Hamburg is in the group of largest systems in the game (30k per square), so everything appears small. Try it in a smaller system such as Tau 37 or Connecticut.

So it is scaled with everything else, is it? Can you control the size of icons in individual systems?
And yes, bases would be great to have them enlarged, please.
