Suggestion: LF-specific cloaks? - kenshin156 - 12-21-2016

Hiya, I wanna make it quick, because it's nothing big to suggest.

I always thought that you never see any light fighters, except when someone needs to be intercepted.
But other than that they're rarely there. Logically, they're weak in firepower and hull and are basically flies.
But if they don't have that much of a use as combat vessels, why not buff them a bit in the sense of implementing a Light Fighter only cloak that has a much better duration. As of now, I think, the cloak duration depends on the weapon energy max? Not sure about that, but I know it's about a minute or two for a fighter.

I wanna get some feedback on this, because like this there could be actual "espionage" RP which would make more sense than a battleship being able to eavesdrop on a longer conversation without being noticed. It's still a massive thing that I can't imagine being completely unnoticable because of a cloak.
A fighter however has little to "announce" itself with, so boosted cloak time on those could be pretty neat.
What'ya think?

I like the idea.

Cloak MK II Adv. (BS) = 1 Cloak Battery per second, 60 seconds to charge = a bit more than 15 minutes of consecutive cloak
Cloak MK II (GB/CR) = 4 Cloak Batteries per second, 20 seconds to charge = around 4 minutes of consecutive cloak
Cloak MK I (Fighters/Small Gunboats) = 4 Cloak Batteries per second, 10 seconds to charge = also around 4 minutes, however it was only around two minutes a before that patch.

Bump?
I mean, is everyone alright with LFs just being useless and unused?
Other opinions, maybe?

Buffing LFs ... i would say allow them missile slots.
I would say maybe rework guns for them a bit.... though I heard the hammerfall is good.

I would also perhaps propose to give LFs a extra bit of a power core. That would be nice. Even with codenames they run out of energy too quickly and then the enemy shield goes straight back up.

But also you do know that fighter cloaks in general have been buffed in terms of how long it takes to keep cloaked, yes?

Edit: Should be posted as @nOmnomnOm account but o well.

Also they are good for racing C:

Light fighters are a sore spot in Disco (something akin to freighters.) Most lack the number of weapons that their heavier brethren get in exchange for being 'hard to hit' (that doesn't stop a nuke mine's radius from somehow insta-ing you (which would bring up how a VHF shot a CD and it tracked a 180 degree arc, but thats later.))
Light Fighters are considered 'weak' not by their weapons (they do pretty good damage per hit) but the energy usage v the power core. For example, a House LF with House Military weapons (example, Liberator with Vengies) can do insane amounts of damage, if it wasn't their core that limits them to three seconds of fire.

As for the Light Fighter being weak, yes, its supposed to be like that, but it is kinda pathetic against things like the Shotgun Sabre that is a favorite.

I wouldn't mind having this.

I also wouldn't mind having something like a high-refire ammo-based forward gun for the LF, maybe put it in the CD slot. Something that would make a LF deadly against something that would not be able to dodge it (like a transport or a foolish snub) while the LF could retain the core.
