Why I am leaning more towards Discord than Skype - nOmnomnOm - 01-02-2017
Reasons to consider:
0. Ability to have it running on a browser and not a separate application. Instead of skype slowing down your computer or having unwanted 'holes' in the firewall to be regulated, this is more easier to deal with. Also no dumb updates that skype has.
1. Proper Administration of your group. This includes things like deleting inappropriate text up to banning.
2. Subsections inside group. You can have a general chat and then other chats as well such as an event chat or high command chat.
3. Ranking system and control over who can see different chats in the group.
4. No annoying sounds when you get messaged.
5. Separate call rooms that work just like TS inside your group.
6. Bots that can be used to set up messages and all sorts of other cool things.
7. A section dedicated to rules or useful links.

Why am I leaning towards Skype:
1) Everyone is on Skype already, and switching to Discord would divide Discovery's playerbase. Or make it have both running, which would be even worse than one alone.
It would take a serious disaster to happen to Skype for us to switch to Discord.

Skype doesn't take up any processing space for me once you disable ads.

I use both on my mobile and I've never had any major issues with either. I agree however that Skype is terrible for the PC.

Never had any issue with both yet I consider Skype as more comfortable. the points @Vendetta and @Thunderer mentioned are only to be supported.

also with me, skype on mobile and pc, not an issue on either (handy when im at work and im bored just to keep touch, without having to remote access my comp at home)

You are assuming that everyone is in a lot of factions and that moving one faction's method of communication will destroy communication as a whole.
I have to disagree with you. While there are people in many factions, some prefer to be in fewer. having an extra tab on your browser will also not "divide" the playerbase in any way. It would actually make it rather more efficient to communicate to members.
I dont understand what you mean by having both running would be a bad thing since people already have forums turned on while playing at the same time. Might even be facebook as well.
I will argue based on my experiences that skype has done more damage than good.

i'm only using skype at this time because its a staff requirement , i mostly switched to discord

it has a disgusting UI and a lack of blocking on it
i don't like it, plain and simple. I'm not wasting my time by making even /more/ accounts on things when Skype already functions as it is.

thread was not intended to make others leave skype.
thread is not about leaving skype.
im not telling anyone to leave or divide the community so please take your drama elsewhere.
