Please explain to me the logic of Gunboat Guns Currently - nOmnomnOm - 01-14-2017 I am going to compare the Cerberus guns to Basics and Solaris. Quote:Cerberus Stats: Quote:Basic Gunboat Turret stats: Quote: Solaris Gunboat Turrets Stats: Conclusion: DO NOT GET CERBERUS TURRETS Cerbs look to be worse than Solaris and also BASICS. The only "advantage" they have is distance, and even that is broken becasue they cannot properly aim b/c of the disruption. I would like to know what was going on in the dude's head when they were balancing this. These stats make no sense at all. Even the basics have the SAME max damage output as the solaris? You guys basically made Basics the best gun and killed Cerbs. At close range the Solaris would be a hard match for a basics user but NOT a cerb user. The basics would win based off of stats as the energy used to deliver the same damage would be more efficent for the basics. What is going on with these stats!??!?!?! RE: Please explain to me the logic of Gunboat Guns Currently - Operator - 01-14-2017 Consider that GB Cerb does two shots at once and that it's meant to be the close-range weapon. The only thing that I do dislike is the shotsound. It's loud and weird. Same goes to Nom Mk III RE: Please explain to me the logic of Gunboat Guns Currently - Kauket - 01-14-2017 Cerbs are supposed to be the anti-GB/capital turret, doing an insane amount of DPS. However, you do not want them to be kiting too far away, which would make them way too strong, even with some energy drain. Literally meant to tank other GBs, getting in to close range. It has dispersion to stop it from being stupidly strong sniping turret. At one point, Solaris was too effective against other Gunboats - having an edge over them because of speed/damage, hence why it now has a large energy drain - it's meant for shooting snubs. RE: Please explain to me the logic of Gunboat Guns Currently - nOmnomnOm - 01-14-2017 Ah I missed the part that 1 cerb has 2 shots and both shots are 1 stat... so you x2 the stats? Ok that makes some more sense for me. Actually wait... Do you also x2 the energy usage? RE: Please explain to me the logic of Gunboat Guns Currently - Kauket - 01-14-2017 (01-14-2017, 06:12 AM)nOmnomnOm Wrote: Ah I missed the part that 1 cerb has 2 shots and both shots are 1 stat... so you x2 the stats? no, the energy is always the same. but I think the shots are divided by however many projectiles there are, so each one bolt from the two does 50%, ( 100% / 2 projectiles = 50% on each) unless I'm wrong and it's just a vanity appearance, but I think it works like that on the espaca-whatever that terrible Corsair shotgun is called. I'm 90% certain because the cannon insta's anyone who takes all of the shots RE: Please explain to me the logic of Gunboat Guns Currently - Antonio - 01-14-2017 You only double the damage, ending up with 6k dps (like before the patch) which no gun is close to. About solarises, the reason why you'd use them is for snubs because they have faster projectiles than any other gun and more importantly - no spread when shooting. RE: Please explain to me the logic of Gunboat Guns Currently - Haste - 01-14-2017 The only thing that changed about Cerbs in the latest patch is that the weapon's stats are divided over two shots, and the whole thing's turn rate got reduced. I did this as players were using Cerbs as an all-round useful weapon against other Gunboats, larger ships and snubs alike. I'm still aiming to make all of the non-heavy gunboat turrets functional against a large range of targets. That does make it harder to get the balance right than if they were more specialized. RE: Please explain to me the logic of Gunboat Guns Currently - nOmnomnOm - 01-14-2017 Why are you stopping people from using verbs against snubs if they can do it with some skill? I fought GBs with cerbs as snub and you just need to dodge well. Why do you continue to nerd a gun when someone finds they have become food at it. It is as if 1 person gets good while others dont and we all get dragged along into a harder version of the gun. This is not only for gb guns but just nerfing in general. The energy usage for cerbs is so high rich now too. Kinda ridiculous. I dont remember it draining powercore this fast. RE: Please explain to me the logic of Gunboat Guns Currently - Antonio - 01-14-2017 It's not "stopping people" from anything, stop overexaggerating. It's just harder, but certainly not impossible. The energy usage seems big because of it having whooping 6k damage per second, more than anything else. It makes shooting snubs less efficient, and shooting caps more consistent since -something- is bound to hit. The closest thing is Bretonia Gunboat Turret at 3.9k, which means the difference is 2.1k. And you wonder why they drain the core fast? RE: Please explain to me the logic of Gunboat Guns Currently - Haste - 01-14-2017 The turn rate is a flat out anti-snub nerf. The dual barrel change just makes it slightly less likely to be as bursty against snubs. It effectively doubled as a razor, and that's not what I was aiming for. I honestly doubt it's changed all that much in practice. Dual barrel or not, at point blank, it used to land on snubs and do loads of damage. Both projectiles will still land in those situations, they're not -that- far apart. |
