Purging - Divine - 01-31-2017

To now, posts always just been made invisible. Why delete them out of a sudden?
So when @Arbs, @Wesker or @Omicega would get purged, you want to deal with what's coming at you for all the missing, and relevant to their factions RP, posts? Posts you can't restore or shift to an other account.

Nice feature, but not thought trough.

RE: Purging - Vendetta - 01-31-2017

Don't post in a discussion thread outside of flood as if it's flood, whether the topic belongs there or not.

I do disagree with deleting posts, though. That's kind of deleting Discovery's history and affects a lot of other people, like faction comms/RP posts with others etc.

RE: Purging - SeaFalcon - 01-31-2017

Should make the purge more selective and leave posts with "Discovery Role-Playing" section unharmed.
Then again that would cost effort...

RE: Purging - Backo - 01-31-2017

Ironically the last total purge I remember was that of @sindroms himself after he revealed how to dupe CAU8s as a goodbye gift to Discovery in time forgotten ages ago.

Also I'm not saying @Sanja didn't deserve some punishment, I just don't think ruining other people's roleplay with him was the way to go. If you actually banned him there would've been less damage to others who were completely innocent in all this.

RE: Purging - Shinju - 01-31-2017

It's dumb. He deserved punishment, but you just deleted a lot of work written by different people as well.

Good job.

I was actually going to mention that as well but I felt too kind...
Although, didn't people want those posts resorted as well? Tongue

Most likely yes. I mean I can't remember but I imagine people who did RP with him as he was pretty big in the LR back then would've been quite angry their RP was suddenly talking to a wall.

RE: Purging - Apollon - 01-31-2017

If a purge is bound to him, it should stick to non-RP forums. As stated above, if it's a total annihilation purge, that would ruin the RP and experience of many various members of the community.

Posts, perhaps not all, but a lot are still there under an unknown Guest account so there is that.

RE: Purging - sindroms - 01-31-2017

I will just go out here on a limb and state that I was not aware that the backup type we are using did not save selectively, but rather in ''chunks''.
There is a backup, but it is a snapshot-like one and re-rolling the changes made to his account would mean re-rolling the whole forum to the last point of backup. Which was.......around a week ago.

So when the smite was carried out, it was done so with the presumption that it could be restored in certain sections on the forum, if needed.
